E-Sword Free Bible Study Software

I have downloaded and installed several free electronic Bible programs and this is by far the best one yet. As a matter of fact, this beats many of the expensive Bible Study software programs you can buy in a store.

It’s a large program and will take some time to download along with the additional study tools but believe me when I tell you that it is worth the time. If you don’t like the download wait time you can purchase a CD from the author for a reasonable price.

“The Word” Bible Study Software

More excellent free Bible study software. Although I still prefer E-Sword (for personal reasons), The Word has more commentaries and books that come with it’s program. However, most of the books are written from the Reformed Calvinistic perspective. Still worth downloading and you can choose which books and commentaries will go with the program.

Also check out the User Made Commentaries section for downloads for The Word not directly available on the software’s main web-page.

Free Bibles and Bible study software by Brent Mauer. Comes in Windows or HTML format and has many features. You can even download for a Palm Pilot. Browse through the web-page and download the program. After all, it’s free.

Fifty Five Fatal Flaws

An Analysis of Christianity In Crisis

A Different Brand of Word of Faith Apologetic’s

Most apologists’ are from a background of Cessation Theology.

Cessation Theology for the most part does not believe in the Baptism of the Holy

Spirit, Speaking in tongues, miracles, healing or any of the other Charismatic beliefs

and practices.

That is why most Cessation apologists’ think that Pentecostal denominations are

cults automatically without the normal evidence needed in determining it for regular

cults we all know of.

I believe there are just as many “wrong headed” cultic ideas in

every denomination that should be scrutinized as well, but the

The Cult of Heresy Hunters

Seven Tactics Of The Heresy Hunters

By Troy J. Edwards

Webster defines “heresy” as,

“an opinion, doctrine, or practice contrary to the truth or to generally accepted beliefs or standards.”

[1] In 1 Timothy 4:1 we are told:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

We are told yet again in Heb. 13:9,

” Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace…”

These passages show us that there is a definite need for the true apologetic ministry in the church.

The early church fathers such as Iraeneus, Origen, Chrysostom, Polycarp, and others spent quite a bit of time defending the truth of Christianity against the well-known heresies of their era. These men were true apologists in every sense of the word. Even before them, Paul, John, and the other early apostles had to continually defend the truth against the error that crept into the church.

Though I may not have always agreed with him, Walter Martin, the founder of the Christian Research Institute, was a true apologist. God raised up such a man when the American scene was becoming so filled with cults that it became difficult to distinguish them from Orthodox Christianity.

His landmark book, Kingdom of the Cults, provided us with sufficient information on the different cults in America and how to deal with them.

The Difference Between Apologists and Heresy Hunters

Nevertheless, there comes a fine line between the valid ministry of an Apologist (one who is defending the faith given to the church) and the need to search for something to use against those you may disagree with theologically in order to make them appear cultist and heretical to the general public.

The latter is a Heresy Hunter.

Heresy Hunting has become a cultist practice unto itself and the purpose of this essay is to show the reader the invalidity of such a practice.

I will show you seven tactics that these people use in their vendetta against those they do not agree with. I will especially show you how these tactics have been used in the attacks against the Word of Faith movement.

1. False Labeling

The heresy hunters seem to enjoy labeling those that they theologically disagree with as “cultic, heretical, etc.” The Word-Faith movement has been labeled a “metaphysical” movement when their has been no trace of metaphysical teaching within this group. We have also been called “Gnostic,” “Universalists,” “Eastern Mysticism,” and a host of other names. One web site labels Marilyn Hickey as the “fairy God-Mother” of the Word of Faith movement.

The heresy hunter even like to falsely label themselves. Many of them say that they are Pentecostals or that they are Charismatics. They do this so that they can be accepted among these particular groups while still attacking everything uniquely Pentecostal or Charismatic.

They do this in order to turn the hearts of Pentecostals and Charismatics away from the essential truths that distinguish these two movements. The unfortunate thing is that it has actually worked. Many Pentecostals and Charismatics treat their Word of Faith brethen as if they have been sprayed by skunks. They now do everything to separate them from their groups.

Many of the heresy hunters say that they are members of Assemblies of God churches or affiliated with “Charismatic” churches such as Calvary Chapel.

Would Jesus call people nasty names or would he Love them away from bad doctrine? The ONLY people he called names were those who REJECTED HIM and his teaching not those who quoted him and lived accordingly!

Yet, when you listen to them talk they often sound like Hyper-Calvinists and Cessationists. It’s a shame because the same criticism that they make against the Word-Faith and other movements were made against the movements that they claim to be affiliated with.

In the beginning of the Pentecostal movement at Azusa street in 1906, the leaders of this movement, William J. Seymour and Charles Parham were labeled “rulers of spiritual Sodom.”

Another person labeled them, “Satan’s preachers, jugglers, necromancers, enchanters, magicians, and all sorts of mendicants.”

This same person also labeled the Pentecostal movement as “spiritualism.” Another well-known preacher of that time labeled it, “the last vomit of Satan.”

A Bible teacher whose writings I love made a statement about the Pentecostal movement that I disagree with:

“emphatically not of God and founded by a Sodomite”.[3]

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Pentecostals were also falsely labeled as “hypnotists,” “mentally unstable” and attributed the miraculous manifestations in the churches as “demonic power.”

One historian makes this observation:

That Pentecostalism was initially successful cannot be gainsaid. It seemed to be scripturally oriented and appeared to be the answer to the prayers of countless thousands as the revitalizing force needed to combat spiritual lethargy which they had felt had engulfed the religious world of the twentieth century. Within a short time, however, the Pentecostal revival became the object of scurrilous attacks. It was denounced as “anti-Christian,” as “sensual and devilish,” and as “the last vomit of Satan.” Its adherents were taunted and derided from the pulpit as well as in the religious and secular press. Some leaders were actually subjected to violence.[4]

I suppose now that many Pentecostal denominations have established a certain amount of “respect” in the evangelical community, they would not want to be associated with a movement that is being rejected by the community at large.

It is recorded later that the American Assemblies of God, a major Pentecostal denomination, rejected what is known as the Charismatic movement.

Those who were Assemblies ministers who approved of this movement lost their ministerial credentials and were disfellowshipped from the AoG. Two of the more well-known are David Du Plessis and Ralph Wilkerson.[5]

Is this not a case of the persecuted becoming the persecutors?

Centuries before this, John Calvin and Martin Luther were persecuted for discovering the truth of “justification by faith.” Once this truth was established, Luther persecuted the Anabaptists because they felt the need to bring further Biblical reforms into the church.

Luther blasted these “zealots” from the pulpit and written literature. He labeled them “stupid spirits,” “rabble preachers,” “infiltrators,” and “messengers of satan.”[6]

George Mueller, who was a great man of faith, was able to trust God for a millions dollars a day to feed thousands of orphans. He did this with no advertisements and no letters appealing to others for support. He totally prayed and relied on God. Unfortunately, due to his tremendous faith, some in his time had falsely labeled him and connected him to spiritualism, the cultic influence of that time:

A striking case is that of Mr. George Muller, of Bristol, who has now for forty years depended wholly for his own support and that of his wonderful charities on answers to prayer…. The Spiritualist explains all this as a personal influence. The perfect simplicity, faith, boundless charity, and goodness, of George Muller, have enlisted in his cause beings of a nature; and his mediumistic powers have enabled them to work for him by influencing others to send him money, food, clothes, etc., all arriving, as we should say, just in the “nick of time.”[7]

Muller was one of the greatest men of faith and greatest example to the church in how to put our full trust and reliance upon God. Because of this apparent success in prayer, he is labeled a medium and the “spirits” (presumably “demonic” spirits) are given the credit for the provisions that he received.

Muller is now respected in both Charismatic and Evangelical churches and is often used as an example of the kind of faith that is needed to do the work God has called us to do. However, there were some that wanted to imply that he was embracing “spiritualism.” Is it any wonder that in our day our major faith teachers who have demonstrated faith in God are made to look “cultic” by those who disagree with them?

God’s persecuted children are in good company. John the Baptist and even our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ have had to deal with false labeling by religious leaders:

“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.” -Matt. 11:18-19

John the Baptist was labeled as demon possessed, and Jesus was called a few other names. Later on Jesus Himself would be accused of being in league with the devil (Matt. 12:23-26).

So God Himself, who came to earth to shed His precious blood for all men is being labeled a man who is in league with the devil whose works he came to destroy (1 John 3:8).

These accusations were made by the religious leaders of his day. Sounds familiar? Jesus goes on to tell us that because we are his disciples, we can expect this same type of persecution:

“It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? -Matt. 10:25

By giving the false labels to Word-Faith which these heresy hunters have done, they

have placed themselves in the same league as the Pharisees of Jesus day and have

placed us in the same company as our Lord Jesus.

Those of us affiliated with the

Word-Faith movement should be thankful for this minor persecution.

Study the BIBLE not each others views on Faith to be approved of God!

2. Taking Statements out of context

This is an attempt to misconstrue the original intent of what the person was intending to say or trying to convey.

This is outright dishonest.

It is equivalent to what many do in the secular media. The secular media uses soundbites, half quotes, and one-sided approaches to give the appearance of “evil” to the watching public.

The secular media has been quite successful in destroying businesses this way and even a few ministries. The heresy hunters have done an excellent job of incorporating this tactic in their attacks on the Word-Faith and others they disagree with.

Although there are enough books that one can buy that gives plenty of examples of this particular heresy hunting tactic, one need not waste his or precious hard-earned dollars. There are enough examples on the world-wide web.

Take notice of a Kenneth Hagin quotation on the Watchman Fellowship web site:

Word-Faith teachers say that not only is God a big man, but man is a little god. Kenneth Hagin has asserted, “man…was created on terms of equality with God, and he could stand in God’s presence without any consciousness of inferiority…. He made us the same class of being that He is Himself…. He lived on terms equal with God…. The believer is called Christ, that’s who we are; we’re Christ” (Zoe: The God Kind of Life, pp. 35-36, 41). “[8]

Notice all of the “…” used in this misquotation of Hagin’s teaching. Those “…” show that the person quoted was not fully quoted.

If I had never read Hagin’s books and this was the first quote I ever read by him, I would stand against his theology too. I would shout “heresy” along with the rest of these heresy hunters.

However, when we look at Hagin’s teaching in it’s full context, we will see that Hagin’s statements were completely taken out of context:

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” -Romans 5:17

What does this verse mean? It means that everyone of us who has been born again and has received the life of God has come into a kingly state. We are accepted by God to reign as kings in life. We are no longer servants in the realm of spiritual death, but we have passed out of death, Satan’s realm, into the realm of the heavenlies. Man was never made to be a slave. He was made to reign as king under God. He was made on terms of equality with God, and he could stand in God’s presence without any consciousness of inferiority.

Notice Psalm 8:4,5:

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”

In some translations there is a number or letter by the word “angels” in this text. If you read the margin you’ll find that the Hebrew word here is Elohim – the same word or name for God. The Hebrew Bible actually says (talking about man), “Thou hast made him a little lower than God.”

That means that God has made us as much like Himself as possible. He made us in His image. He made us in His likeness. He made us the same class of being that is Himself. He made Adam with an intellect of such caliber that he could name every animal, vegitable, and fruit, and give them names that would describe their characteristics. When God could do that with man, man belonged to the realm of God…..

God made man His understudy. He made him king, to rule over everything that had life. Man was master. Man lived in the realm of God. He lived on terms of equality with God.

(Zoe, pp. 35-36)

15 “And what concord hath Christ with Belial?”

Finally, the believer is called “Christ” and the unbeliever is called “Belial.” That’s who we are; we’re Christ!

Jesus is the head and we’re the Body of Christ. Your head doesn’t go by one name and your body by another, does it? You don’t call your body Henry Jones and your little finger Louise Simpson, do you? Your little finger has the same name as the rest of your body because it belongs to that body. (p. 41)[9]

Notice that Mr. Hux neglected to deal with the Scripture passages that Hagin used.

Notice also how Mr. Hux totally misinterpreted Hagin’s message.

Hagin was not demoting God and elevating man as Mr. Hux would imply.

Hagin stated that man was God’s understudy.

Does this sound as if Hagin was promoting man to a higher level than God?

Hagin was simply teaching the level on which God created man. Take Psalm 8:4-5 for example.

There are a host of Bible translations that state that man was made a little lower than God.

When Hagin and others speak of man being in God’s class, most of this teaching

centers on passages in Psalms 8:4-5; Heb. 2:7; Psalm 82:1, 6, and John 10:35.

The KJV took the Hebrew word “Elohim” in Psalm 8:5 and translated it to “angels” instead of God. I understand that it was also translated this way in the Septuagint, which is the Greek version of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Many Bible translations have decided to translate the Hebrew word correctly. Among the older ones are Revised standard version, Young’s literal Translation, American Standard Version, Hebrew Names Version, World English Bible, and the Amplified Bible.

Among the newer translations that quote it this way are God’s Word To the Nations translation, Contemporary English version, New Living Translation, and Today’s English Version.

These all speak of God creating man a little lower than Himself vice creating man a little lower than the angels.

Commentaries by men who are respected in the church who also seem to agree with this interpretation is John Wesley, Adam Clark, Warren Wiersbe, Ray Stedman, and John Calvin.

Therefore, Hagin was simply stating that man was created in God’s image and has a higher place than the angels and other created beings. In this sense, Hagin is teaching that man was created in God’s class. Further more, Hagin was simply teaching the truth that we are members of Christ’s body.

He was not teaching that each Christian is the Messiah Himself. He was teaching that we are a part of one body and that we have a place and position in Christ that we often do not recognize. Besides, Mr. Hux neglected to include Hagin’s proof Scripture (2 Cor. 6:15) as well as Hagin’s full statement. Hagin was by no means teaching that God was a big man and that we are on His level.

Sometimes change hurts so bad we can’t experience beyond our bowls no matter how long we hear the truth!

3. Comparison method

Used to compare the statements of well known faith teachers against those of well known heretics and/or cultic leaders. These statements are often taken out of context.

Jesus methods of healing and deliverance were also compared to the cultic exorcists of His time on earth. Jesus was accused of being demon possessed:

“And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?” -Matt. 12:23-26

One web site does this by quoting major faith teachers out of context and then compares their statements to those of Mormon leaders such as Brigham Young and other Mormon leaders. It’s an endless charade.

An example of how some of these “apologetical” websites do this is displayed below. One Apologist takes a quote by Copeland and compares it to a quote by a New Age leader:

“Faith activates the force of God fear is a force that activates the Devil. Copeland says, God did not create the world out of nothing, He used the Force of His Faith.’ (Spirit, Soul and Body, #01-0601, Tape #1)

New Ager Benjamin Creme says, for example, “One doesn’t pray to oneself, one prays to the God within. The thing is to learn to invoke that energy which is the energy of God. Prayer and worship as we know it today will gradually die out and men will be trained to invoke the (inner) power of deity.”

(The Reappearance of Christ and the Masters of Wisdom, pp. 135-136)[10]

This is just one example of how Copeland’s “force of faith” teaching is compared to a well-known cult to make him look as if he were receiving his theological perspective from them. One other person makes it sound like Copeland has been watching too many science fiction movies:

Faith is a Force (like Starwars).
(Spirit, Soul and Body, #01-0601, Tape #1) [11]

I am giving you the exact quote as it was written on this website which is supposed to be a compilation of “erroneous” quotes from Word of Faith teachers. I am absolutely sure that the “like starwars” insertion in the parenthesis was not from the person quoted, but the interpretation of the quoter.

The Heresy Hunter will add or take away from the words of the faith teacher in order to make the faith teacher sound heretical.

I will now use this same tactic and compare the “force of faith teaching with quotes from a classic Bible teacher that many consider “orthodox” and whose books are even sold and read by some of these apologetical ministries:

Many grand deeds have also been born of faith, for faith works wonders. Faith in its natural form is an all-prevailing force. God gives salvation to our faith because He has touched the secret spring of all our emotions and actions.[12]

Now what “heretic” would make a statement like that?

Long before the so called New Age movement, and long before the popular Star Wars movies (long before movies, period), Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) made the above statement.

In a later essay on this subject I will show you similar statements by other men of days gone by, men who bare the names of Albert B. Simpson, Edwards M. Bounds, Frederick Marsh, and others. These men also believed that faith, prayer, and even the death of Christ is a “force.”

Were they heretical too?

You will be surprised at the statements these men made that would be considered “heretical” in today’s heresy hunting atmosphere.

However, allow me to quote another surprising statement by the “prince of preachers himself once more in this regard:

Faith is the mightiest of the mighty. It is the monarch of the realms of the mind. There is no being superior to its strength, no creature that will not bow to its divine prowess.

The lack of faith makes a person despicable; it shrivels him up so small that he might live in a nutshell. Give him faith, and he is a leviathan that can dive into the depths of the sea, a giant who takes nations and crumbles them in his hand, vanquishing hosts with his sword and gathering up all the crowns as his own. There is nothing like faith.

Faith makes you almost as omnipotent as God, by borrowed power of its divinity. Give us faith and we can do all things.[13]

Now is that heretical by today’s standards or what? Is this any more heretical then Copeland saying that faith activates the force of God? So perhaps Spurgeon and modern day faith teachers were heretical.

Was Jesus heretical when He said that “all things are possible to him that believes” (Mark 9:22-23)?

Was Paul heretical when he compared faith to a “shield” (Eph. 6:16)?

I have no doubt that Copeland had no intentions of implying that faith was something similar to the star wars force or the New Age definition. Faith is a weapon or force that can be used in resisting the devil (1 Pet. 5:8-9; James 4:7).

Let’s look at another Scripture that is not often taught outside “spiritual warfare” circles:

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. -Matt. 11:12

Was Jesus speaking of a “metaphysical force” when He made this statement? No. The word “force” used in this passage comes from the Greek word Biazo.

According to Vines dictionary this word can be translated to be “….expressive of the special interest which the doer of the act has in what he is doing.”[14] It can also be synonymous with violence.

Paul tells us, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 14:17).

Perhaps when Copeland speaks of the force of righteousness, or the force of Joy, or the force of faith, he is speaking of taking the kingdom of God by this type of force. Or perhaps he meant it as a comparison to the “force” of electricity as F.B. Meyer did in one of his sermons over a century ago.[15]

Comparing Copeland’s words to a well known cultic antiChristian group or to a popular science fiction movie and not take other, more orthodox references into account is totally dishonest on the part of these heresy hunters. They should be ashamed of themselves.

4. False Implications

After quoting a person out of context, and then comparing the person’s statement to a well known cult leader or heretic, the next step is to make a false implication concerning what the individual teaches. The interpretation of a statement by the Heresy Hunter is usually never what the writer/preacher originally meant to convey.

In John 2:18-21 we find this incident concerning Jesus Christ:

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.

Now it is clear that Jesus was not speaking of the literal temple but of His own body. It is also clear that he said nothing about destroying this temple Himself but that others would do the destroying. Now watch how this is expertly used against him during His trial just before He is crucified:

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, [yet] found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, And said, This [fellow] said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what [is it which] these witness against thee? (Matthew 26:59-62).

Now you see how these men came to the wrong conclusion concerning Jesus’ statement. Jesus spoke of the temple of his body but these men made it seem as if Jesus were speaking of the temple (building). The incorrect implications were drawn from the Lord’s statements. The Bible calls these men “false witnesses.” This spirit is still resident in our time in the “ministries” of the modern day heresy hunter. We can see how this tactic is used on one “apologetical” website:

E.W. Kenyon wrote, “We have sung ‘Nearer the cross’ and we have prayed that we might be ‘Nearer the cross’ but the cross has no salvation in it. It is a place of failure and defeat” (Advanced Bible Course, p.279) [emphasis mine]. As usual, the others merely echo Kenyon’s ideas about this.

What the Bible says:

“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6:14). “I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to those who are being saved it is the Power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18) See also Ephesians 2:16; Colossians 1:20 and 2:15.[16]

The conclusion we draw from this misquote of Kenyon’s work is that Kenyon has no regard for the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sounds almost similar to a Rev. Moon philosophy (I’m surprised that this apologist did not use this “comparison” method).

[17] The author then attempts to prove that Kenyon has made a heretical statement by quoting a passage of Scripture that supposedly contradicts what Kenyon said. First we will look at the fool context of this quote so that we can see EXACTLY what Kenyon was saying, we will give Scripture references that show that Kenyon was attempting to convey a truth to his students that was not often taught in his time, and then we will show you from Kenyon’s own writings what he truly believed in regards to the cross of Christ. Here’s Kenyon’s full quote:

If Jesus had gone no further than dying on the cross, no one have ever been saved through Him. There is no New Birth, no New Creation, in the dead Christ.

We have sung ‘Nearer the cross’ and we have prayed that we might be ‘Nearer the cross’ but the cross has no salvation in it. It is a place of failure, a place of death, a place where Jesus was made sin, a place where God forsook Jesus, turned His back upon Him after He had made Him sin. It was a place where Satan had apparently won a victory over the Man who had ruled him for three and a half years. So for us to sing, “Jesus, keep me near the cross,” is for us to be kept near failure and defeat.

No, there is no salvation in a dead Christ or a suffering Christ hanging on the cross.

Many who read this will feel shocked because they have worshipped a dead Christ. Had Jesus stopped, had He gone no further than the cross, we would never have heard from Him.

You see, the disciples only understood what the physical senses registered, as they gathered about the cross and watched Him in His death throes.

The next picture of Jesus is the one that has brought life and light to the human race. It is the Resurrected, Ascended, and Seated Christ.[18]

So what was Kenyon teaching here?

He was teaching that so many focus on the death of Christ and do not focus on His RESSURECTION and EXALTATION. They look at the DEATH of Christ but overlook the other aspects. They forget He is no longer on the cross. Kenyon was teaching people to get past the cross and move towards the resurrection and ascension. The cross was a necessary part of salvation but Kenyon is teaching here that the death of Christ would mean nothing had He not been raised from the dead and seated at the right hand of God.

In a paragraph above this, Kenyon relates the story of how he saw a picture in the street of Christ dead on the cross. This seems to be the only picture of Christ that has been in the minds of many in the church.

I remember before I received Christ as my personal savior, my girlfriend sent me a cross. I thought I would impress my friend, who was a true born again Christian by showing him. When I did, he said, “Troy, Jesus is no longer on the cross.” Those words struck me. As far as I know, this man was not a Word-Faither. He was Protestant.

Christ is no longer in the grave. He has risen. This aspect of Christianity is what separates us from Islam, Buddhism, and a host of other world religions. It is not as Rev. Moon stated (that Christ failed) but the resurrection proves that Jesus was SUCCESSFUL. He was victorious.

There were good reasons why Kenyon needed to point this out. For example, our salvation relies not so much in the death of Christ, as important as this aspect is, but it relies primarily in His having been raised from the dead:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. – Romans 10:9-10

Our victory over sin and our identification is to not only acknowledge the cross but the resurrection as well:

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:

that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. – Romans 6:2-9

Because of this resurrection that Christ is able to work His mighty power toward those of us who believe:

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. -Eph. 1:19-23

There is a full abundance of Scripture that we can use in this regard, but this is sufficient. F.E. Marsh (1858-1931) said it this way, “A crucifix is not an emblem of Christianity, but an empty tomb is. How much that empty tomb proclaims!”[19]

What Kenyon Believed About The Cross

How Did Kenyon feel about the cross? Was it an unimportant aspect of redemption? If we read Kenyon’s books we would see that he held the cross of Christ in high esteem. Remember in the quote from his book, Advanced Bible Course, Kenyon was expounding on the importance of the resurrections. This by no means implies that Kenyon did not think that the cross was important. Kenyon states in one of his books:

The cross was the climax of love in manifestation. There is no love without action. It is not love until it acts. Love was unveiled on the cross. That God Man who hung there had come of His own volition. He was not a martyr; He was a supreme lover.[20]

Kenyon believed that the cross held a very important place in the work of God. Kenyon believed that the cross is where Jesus became our substitute on the cross. In another of his books, Kenyon says, “But God has dealt with the sin problem in His Son. He has put sin away by the sacrifice of that Son.”[21]

Kenyon believed that the cross is where Jesus bore our sins. Kenyon certainly believed that the cross was a necessity. The reading of several of his books would affirm this. The references are too numerous to quote. However, Kenyon believed strongly in the message of the cross. He simply wanted his readers not to stop there and settle on the cross but to go beyond that to the resurrection and the ascension. However, the modern day apologists will not tell you that.

5. Sensationalizing

This is an attempt to make a person believe that the group that they are attacking is a real threat to present day Christianity. In other words, the said group or doctrine along with it’s teachers and adherents is causing a real “Crisis” with Christendom as we know it. Unless these “heretics” as they are labeled are done away with, the whole foundations of Christianity will be destroyed.

What really gets me is one internationally known heresy hunter who claimed that the Faith teachers were causing a Crisis in Christianity was the same one to criticize other brethren (although I agree he was correct in doing so) for using sensationalism to promote the Y2K scare back in 1999. If only this same “apologist” had followed his own advice about sensationalism to sell books.

This same critic of the faith teachers have labeled another group of people that use similar tactics as himself as “a Cult of Gossipers.” Although I may agree with him on this, I must also say that this is the proverbial “pot calling the kettle black.” It is terrible that these heresy hunters will see sin in their brothers and yet commit the same sins. It’s the case of not being able to pull the speck out of your brother’s eye until you have pulled the moat out of your own (Matt. 7:1-5)

The caption on one Heresy Hunter’s webpage would be funny if it were not so pathetic: “

JUST LIKE AIDS…The Christian Church is Being Destroyed from Within!” This is in reference to the Faith movement, of course. Is God not able to remove a “cancer” or “AIDS” from His own body (The Body of Christ)?

This type of sensationalism is used quite often in the secular media to stir up viewer’s emotions. The Heresy Hunter has skillfully adopted this technique in his war against the Faith Movement. What good Christian would not want to remove AIDS from the body of Christ? What good Christian would want to keep the church from being destroyed from within?

God is fully capable of keeping His church from being “destroyed from within.” However, the Heresy Hunter must use such sensational tactics as Christianity being in a “Crisis,” or that the Faith Teachers are preaching a “different” gospel, or that we have become a “cancer” or “AIDS” in the body of Christ.

It’s So Sensational

Sensationalism sells books. Non Christians often use this tactic but unfortunately so do Christians. In 1988 the Christian bookstores sold a book titled 88 Reasons Why Christ Will Return In 1988. The book sold well and it also disappointed so many people when their expectations were not met.

We mentioned the Y2K scare earlier. So many Christians “prophesied” about the disasters that would occur when the clock struck twelve midnight due to the negligence of our major computer programmers to figure in a four digit date into all of our computerized appliances. Many of these same people sold shelters and survival kits. I am sure that the reader remembers that the impending doom did not occur.

Unfortunately, the Charismatic movement that I have aligned myself with has been guilty of sensationalism. In the 1940-50s during the healing revival we have often sensationalized this wonderful provision of God with our flamboyance. This gave a bad name to healing. The 1970s gave us some insight into deliverance from demonic possession but again, the church moved into sensationalism, giving the deliverance ministry a bad name. Even now so many of our brethren are using sensationalism to promote their ministries.

We could write volumes on how “satanic ritual abuse” sensationalism has promoted the ministries of some (and has also caused their downfall when the truth about them were exposed). Then there was the “Illuminati” sensationalism. The church seems to have our own “conspiracy theories.” These are just a few examples of the sensationalism that has reared its ugly head in the church far too often.

The sensationalism has not been limited to the Charismatic movement. We have seen that the evangelicals have done well in this department too. The Heresy Hunters have especially been good at this tactic. Many of them attack anything and everything that they do not agree with and will use any way possible to get the attention of the church. Some of them have a desperate fleshly need for this attention.

Many times people ride the waves of what seems to be popular. Word-Faith bashing has been very popular for the past twelve or so years. Before that, many people were teaching “faith,” “discipleship,” and “deliverance.” To them it was a fad. They were riding the waves of it’s popularity.

Now many of these same people have become the staunchest critics of these doctrines. It’s no longer fun to them. It’s not the “in” thing anymore. Word-Faith bashing is now the “in” thing and they must ride the waves of opportunity before the next fad. It is so sad that when God reveals a truth to His church and people begin to walk in light of that truth, others seem to come along only for the ride, or for the sensation and thrill of the moment.

The real test of whether you believe any truth from God’s Word is when that truth and its adherents come under attack and persecution. That is the time that we see whether a person truly believed what he was taught or preaching or whether he or she was riding the wave of sensationalism. Many preachers turned from the Faith movement due to the books written against it. Many of them have endorsed the books and believe that simply because they were once a part of this movement that they are now experts.

Sensational wave riders are not experts. They were only on the train for the ride. They did not get grounded in the true principles of faith teaching and some of them were probably the biggest propagators of it’s excesses. That’s the result of just coming along for the ride. We will see what happens as this wave of Word-Faith name calling popularity begins to die down. What train will many of these men and women hop on next?

6. Theological Prejudice/Bias in interpreting proof texts of those that they disagree with.

If Word-Faith (which is primarily an Arminian movement) interprets Scripture from and Arminian viewpoint, their accusers will use the Calvinistic interpretaion. If Word-Faith interprets a passage from a covenantal viewpoint then the heresy hunter will use the dispensational argument to refute those that they oppose. In other words, the Heresy Hunter uses whatever method he possibly can to prove to his listeners/readers that those whose ministries they wish to destroy are wrong and heretical.

There are those who feel that one MUST embrace a particular theological system (either Calvinism or Arminianism) and stick only with the tenets of that system or they are in error. Unfortunately for the heresy hunter, Word-Faith and other Charismatics have defied such logic by seemingly incorporating a mixture of both theological systems in each case.

Jeff Beard in his testimony, “Freedom from the Faith Movement: The Personal Testimony of Jeff Beard” shows how his freedom was achieved theologically:

My eagerness for answers was soon satisfied, for I received a book from John MacArthur, Jr., that addressed many of the concerns I had — _and he used Scripture._ I then purchased a book by G. Campbell Morgan, and was given still another book by Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones. For the first time, I felt I was eating real spiritual food. The Bible was coming together at last, and I saw clearly that God was a _personal_ God and not just a bunch of spiritual laws to tap into.[22]

Notice the writings that had the major affect on Beard’s theological perspective. I am not as familiar with Martin Lloyd Jones (though I am told that he supported the Charismatic movement) but I can certainly show the reader the anti-Pentecostal and anti-charismatic bias of the other two writers.

In case the reader is not informed, John MacArthur is the pastor of one of the most thriving Reformed Calvinist churches in this nation. He is also the author of a popular book titled Charismatic Chaos, a book that criticizes everything Charismatic. MacArthur is well known for his cessationist theology.

Pentecostal historian Vinson Synan, in his book, The Holiness-Pentecostal movement records this statement concerning Dr. G. Campbell Morgan at the beginning of the Pentecostal revival: “Dr. G. Campbell Morgan, one of the most respected preachers of the twentieth century, called the Pentecostal movement ‘the last vomit of Satan.'”[23]

Another writer who seems to have changed Beard’s views concerning the Faith Movement happens to be a someone whose writing I also enjoy. Nevertheless, this person also falls into the category of a Reformed Calvinist/Cessationist. His name is A.W. Pink:

We soon accepted a position as associate pastors and Bible school directors in another state and shoved off to put to use all we had been taught. To prepare for my Bible classes, I studied for hours in the Bible alongside the writings of A.W. Pink. (No, Rhema did not endorse or promote the writings of Pink.) This was probably the best thing I had going for me. After a few months of Pink’s writings conflicting with my Rhema theology, I knew I needed some answers.[24]

Notice that Pink’s writings conflicted with “Rhema theology.” I have read Pink’s writings and I have been blessed by them. However, “Rhema theology” as Mr. Beard refers to it comes from an Arminian/Wesleyan/Holiness/Pentecostal background (in spite of what the critics say). Pink, like MacArthur and probably Morgan are from the Calvinistic/Reformed/Cessationist background. This is not only a CONFLICT, but a MAJOR one.

I have no problems with people changing their theological position. That is their perogative. What I have a problem with is Word-Faith critics who pose as Charismatics/Pentecostals and yet embrace theological positions that conflict with the labels they claim. There is nothing wrong with a person reading the writings of those with opposing theological views. I have done this and continue to do it. However, if these views are in conflict with one’s foundational teachings, would it not be better to refer to the Scriptures to bring the understanding you need rather than totally throw away your foundation?

In a book review by CRI concerning one book criticizing the faith movement, the reviewer makes this statement:

A distinctively “Reformed” analysis, packed with quotes and footnotes. At its best when refuting the biblical proof-texts most often used by Faith teachers; at its weakest when relating Faith teachings to the Mind Science cults and the New Age movement. [25]

The book that was reviewed is titled, Man as God: The Word of Faith Movement, was written by Curtis Crenshaw, an associate of John MacArthur. Notice that the CRI reviewer acknowledges that the book was written from the reformed perspective and found the book to be at it’s “best” while refuting the Faith teachers from the Scriptures (but thankfully the reviewer felt that the metaphysical and New Age connections were weak).

The Word-Faith critics have portrayed themselves as Pentecostals and Charismatics while at the same time blasting anything that was birthed from this movement and endorsing the writings of nonCharismatics. By this portrayal, these critics have successfully turned the hearts of other Pentecostals and Charismatics against the Word-Faith movement.

I have noticed in my conversations with ex-Word of Faith people that the majority of them embrace Reformed theology. In most cases they may add certain Charismatic distinctives. Nevertheless, while rejecting the Word-Faith movement they usually reject all Arminian/Wesleyan views and totally embrace Calvinism – minus Calvin’s cessationism in most cases.

Many who embrace Calvinism believe that Calvinism is the gospel and that the five point Calvinistic system of Bible interpretation (known as TULIP) is the correct way to interpret the Bible. Any other method is believed to lead a person into error. Not all become critics of the Word-Faith. Many of them are thankful for what they have learned from the movement. Unfortunately, too many others who leave the movement become critics of it and build websites and write books and pamphlets against it. While criticizing the faith teachers for being “arrogant,” they show their own arrogance by their pride in their “theological” position.

Men like T.D. Jakes have also been the subject of this heresy hunting crusade. Jakes, who pastors the 23.000 member Potter’s House Church in Dallas, Texas has been criticized by both Hank Hanegraaf, current president of the Christian Research Institute and Jerry Buckner, a radio host and pastor. While some feel that Jakes may be the successor to Billy Graham, a world renowned evangelist, Buckner has a different opinion:

“T.D. Jakes is a cult leader and his ministry is a cult,” Buckner told “Charisma” magazine last week. “He needs to repent of his theology if he is to be considered the next Billy Graham.”[26]

I suppose Buckner must have a considerable voting share in the “Billy Graham successor” stock. I guess Jakes success at winning the lost to Christ does not qualify in the eyes of those who are focused on “theology.” Not so much correct theology but not embracing their theology (by the way, I am a Trinitarian). Buckner goes on to question Jakes integrity by saying, “Jakes is hiding his ties to Oneness Pentecostalism in order to be accepted in the mainstream.”[27] This article goes on to say:

Buckner branded Jakes a heretic because of the Oneness ties, and because of a statement on the T.D. Jakes Ministries Web site that says God “exists in three manifestations.” Buckner and Hanegraaff’s California-based Christian Research Institute maintain that the use of the word “manifestation” is theologically unsound, and they insist that Jakes must correct his view by stating that the Trinity is “three separate persons.”

Jakes said, “I believe in one God. I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe that these three are distinct and separate in their function. Their distinctives are so separate that each has individual attributes, yet they are one. I do not believe in three Gods.”[28]

“Theologically unsound?!!!!”

This is such a ridiculous excuse to brand someone a heretic. This is a blatant attempt to either get someone to conform to your “theological jargon” or brand the person as a “heretic.” I suppose Buckner, Hanegraaf, and CRI will now be telling us what is proper “theological wording” for our statements of faith. Perhaps the word “manifested” is a theologically unsound word to Hanegraaf and Buckner but the Holy Spirit may have felt differently when He had John write his epistle:

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. – John 3:8

Think John would have been branded a heretic by today’s theological standards? Simply because Jakes does not use the “correct theological” wording acceptable to Buckner and Hanegraaf, he has become a heretic. Ministries such as Buckner’s and CRI feel that if one is not embracing theology as they believe it, then they are not adhereing to the “right” theology.

Does Embracing The “Right” Theology Make One Superior?

Ted Rouse, who has written a book in defense of the Word-Faith movement titled: Faith and The Pharisees, Has this to say about the theological perspectives of some Word-Faith critics:

People, especially religious men, who are bound and blinded by their own theological beliefs, will see only what they are looking for as they search to prove that their theology is right and what others believe is wrong. The sad part is they dishonestly twist and use whatever they can, true or not, to make their point, all in the name of religion.[29]

I share Brother Rouse’s opinion concerning many religious men. However, both Rouse and I could be bias concerning the theology of these critics since we are both sympathetic to the Word-Faith movement. However, another author who is not so sympathetic to this movement, Neil T. Anderson, has made a similar observation:

The only one who is right is God. We think we are defending the truth, but what we are actually defending is our theological position and worldview. Nobody has a perfect perspective of reality, and nobody fully knows the truth. We are not omniscient, and we all have a grid by which we interpret and evaluate life. I am not committed to my theology, and I’m certainly not committed to yours. What I am committed to is the truth. Theology is man’s attempt to systematize truth.[30]

Maybe the reader may better understand and receive an opinion of bias theology from someone outside of the Faith Movement and who is not sympathetic to it. Understand that we are all “bias” in the sense that we may embrace certain theological positions. However, all of us do not use our “bias” in the same way that the Heresy Hunter does. His intent is to discredit and perhaps destroy the ministry he opposes.

One of the most skilled “Theologians” of his time threw away all dead theology for what Kenyon has popularly labeled “revelation knowledge:”

Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ – Phil. 3:4-8

Man may accuse Word-Faith for our desire to be taught the Bible by the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) rather than following their dead theological traditions and systems. They may talk about us and persecute us but I’d rather be criticized and walk in newness of life than to conform to man’s theological boundaries and have the life of God choked out of me. Usually people like this who cannot get a fresh revelation of God’s Word (the Bible) have to spend time criticizing others in an attempt to make them as joyless as themselves. Theology is not bad in itself, but when we become so locked into a certain theological system that fresh truth cannot penetrate, then we have allowed the letter to kill and prevented the Spirit from giving life (2 Cor. 3:6)

7. Incorrectly using “Scholarship” to make their point

Basically, the Heresy Hunter uses “Bad Scholarship” in an attempt to make those that they oppose look ignorant. If the Heresy Hunter’s presentation looks “Scholastic” and “Well Researched” while those they oppose look like “ignorant bumpkins” then most people will be deceived by this tactic. Who can refute a book with hundreds of footnotes and references to great scholastic works while those of a group like the Word-Faith teachers refer only to the Scriptures.

Unfortunately, the “out of context” statements are pulled from hundreds of tapes, books, magazines, television shows, and other medium that most people are not going to buy or even can afford to buy. I have not read all of the material that these heresy hunters reference. However, I have read enough of the material by the faith teachers to know that some of the so called “scholarship” and “research” used by these people is not done in a prayerful manner.

There are some out there who really believe that a person cannot interpret Scripture correctly without the help of some scholarly commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, etc. They do not feel that the Holy Spirit is sufficient for teaching a person the true meaning of the Scriptures.

Jack Deere, a minister with the Vineyard movement has received his share of criticism, especially since his excellent book, Surprised By The Power Of The Spirit, (read my review of this book) which does an outstanding job of refuting the cessationist viewpoint. One critic of the book takes issue with Deere’s teaching on healing from James 5:

A work on healing cannot ignore James 5.

However, it must not merely recognize the passage and then conform it to one’s predetermined theology and/or experiences, as Deere has apparently done.

Nowhere does the author attempt to deal with the text in order to answer probing questions such as, “Is the passage limited to the first century or is it applicable today?

Does it apply to all humanity or just Christians?

Does it extend to all Christians or just some?

Is its purpose to prepare people to die or to restore people to quality living?

Does it refer to physical, emotional, or spiritual problems?

Is the practice to be done in a public service or privately? Does the intent involve medicinal or symbolic anointing?

Is the healing miraculous or providential? Is the promise absolute or conditional?”[31]

All of these questions are the type that Scholars feel that everyone must use to study a passage. Why must we engage in such “scholarly” tactics when it comes to the Word of God? Is it not sufficient to simply believe what God says and accept it? Not according to the Scholar. I am convinced that such questioning actually undermines the Word of God:

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. -Thess. 2:13

The Word is not going to work effectively in us if we do not receive it at face value as the Word of God for today. My Bible tells me that all Scripture is profitable (2 Tim 3:16). It tells me that all of God’s promises are yes and amen (2 Cor. 1:20). When we start having to ask questions like, “Is the passage limited to the first century or is it applicable today?” This question should not even be entertained for one moment. Yet, many feel that to not do so is anti-intellectual.

There is a place for asking questions when studying a Bible text. Nevertheless, those questions should not be the type that would cause DOUBT as to whether any promise in God’s Word is applicable to the Believer today. Satan asked certain questions to Eve and Jesus intended to bring doubt to the validity of God’s Word rather than to incite further study (Gen. 3:1-7; Matthew 4:1-11). Could this critic of Deere’s book be doing the same? Here’s another quote from this critic:

As have others, this reviewer believes that Jack Deere’s work, in the main, is theologically defective. Rather than resembling a careful study by an open-minded, trained theologian, it is more like the product of an immature new convert who, after reading the gospels and Acts for the first time, concludes that what took place in the first century will continue throughout the church age.[32]

This author definitely does not seek to hide his cessationist bias. The author does not believe that the Holy Spirit, who Jesus promised to send in order to be our personal Bible teacher (John 14:26) is sufficient for teaching the pupil. The cessationist cannot find a clear argument for his theology in Scripture so he must use other “scholarly methods. Much of the same thing is done in other books criticizing various Charismatic movements.

Quite often people are deceived by the intellectual argument rather than by embracing the simplicity of God’s holy and written Word. After all, they do not want to appear as if they lack intelligence as it is often portrayed among Pentecostals and Charismatics by their critics, “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise” (1 Cor. 1:27)

Peter and John did not mind appearing to the people as anti-intellectuals:

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. -Acts 4:13

Because peter and John did not fit into the theological “in group,” they were made to look like they knew nothing. They were made to look like anti-intellectuals. The Bible shows us the grip that intellectualism has on people:

The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. And every man went unto his own house. – John 7:46-53

The people of Jesus day are made to seem as if they do not know the law because they were drawn to Jesus. The standard of whether Jesus’ doctrine was correct or in error was supposed to be measured by whether the “theologians” of that time accepted. This sounds quite like many of our great “scholars” today. If it does not meet the litmus test of today’s theologians and if the teaching is not presented in a “scholarly” and intellectual manner, then it is heresy to them. After all, they have their doctorates of divinity and their masters in theology, so they are the experts. It is a shame that people are more prone to believe the educated more than to seek out the truth. People would rather not have to deal with the persecution that can come from the leaders of our time. They would rather stay with the in crowd:

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. -John 12:42-42

There is nothing wrong with education or scholarship, but when used the way these heresy hunters have used it to attack Word-Faith and other Charismatic ministries, then it becomes a tool of Satan. The sadducees were like that. They were equivalent to the cessationists of our day. The cessationist believe that the days of God moving in the miraculous are gone. The sadducees did not believe in a resurrection (Acts 23:8).

They attempted to trap Jesus using their “scholarly” argument (Matt. 22:24-33). Jesus said that there problem was that they did not know the Scriptures or God’s power (Matt. 22:30).

Charles Finney, the great revivalist of the 19th century was subject to such scholarly attacks by the theologians of his day. A.M. Hill tells of one o the times Finney was subject to this persecution:

It seems that Rev. William R. Weeks, an extreme Calvinist of a community where Finney labored, opposed him on theological grounds. He “held that both sin and holiness were produced in the mind by a direct act of Almighty Power; that God made men sinners or holy at His sovereign discretion, but in both cases by a direct act of Almighty Power, an act as irresistible as that of creation itself; that, in fact, God was the only proper agent in the universe, and that all creatures acted, only as they were moved and compelled to act, by His irresistible power; that every sin in the universe, both of men and of devils, was the result of a direct, irresistible act on the part of God.”

Such an insane theology is certainly a blasphemous libel on God. Of course, a man holding such doctrines, and the philosophy and methods that would naturally follow, would be led to oppose Finney.

He, and others like him, wrote letters abroad, misrepresenting the work and poisoning the minds of prominent leaders in Massachusetts and Connecticut, A great cry and excitement was raised against “New Measures.” He wrote a pamphlet, and so also did a Unitarian.

Evil reports spread far and near, until, at last, in the summer of 1827, a Convention was called to meet at New Lebanon to inquire into the nature and evils of the late revivals in Central New York. Finney was, there, and the pastors with whom he had labored.

The clergymen present from the East were Dr. Lyman Beecher, then the leading revival pastor of Boston and Massachusetts; Dr. Herman Humphrey, president of Amherst College; Dr. Justin Edwards, of Andover, Mass.; Caleb J. Tenney, of Wethersfield; and Dr. Joel Hawes, of Hartford, Conn. Upon Dr. Beecher and Asahel Nettleton was thrown the responsibility of endeavoring to check the evils that were supposed to be fostered by Finney’s work.[33]

The terrible thing is that the theologians are still persecuting Finney posthumously. I was reading in one other book about someone who wrote a book that criticizes the Keswick movement of the early part of the 20th century. According to this “scholarly” work, these men were in error. Whenever I read the works by men such as F.B. Meyer, Andrew Murray, R.A. Torrey and other Keswickians, I see a life and devotion to God that is not found in the works of those who spend their whole writing “ministry” criticizing others.

Do you notice that the theology of Mr. Weeks is quite similar to that of many of those today who write and speak against the faith movement. One critic of the faith movement has stated that it is an incorrect view of God’s sovereignty that leads us to error.

It amazes me how the Hyper-Calvinist[34] view of God’s sovereignty that is often propagated as “Orthodox” is always the view that has brought “death” to so many revivals and moves of God. I wonder which view of His sovereignty does God believe is in error? Then again, may be I don’t wonder.

Conclusion: The heresy hunters have caused quite a bit of stir in the church. They have caused the very division and strife that they often accuse those who they attack. They present themselves as “defenders of the faith” and “contenders for the truth.” Yet they use false accusations, innuendo, and other ungodly methods to contend for this “truth.” They are defending the truth as they see it. They claim to be modern day Bereans. I’m afraid that they do not qualify:

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed…. – Acts 17:11-12b

The Bereans did not spend hours looking for holes in Paul and Sila’s teaching. The Bereans searched the Scriptures daily to if these things are so. The Heresy Hunters are looking for Scriptures to prove that what those they criticize say are not so. The Bereans received the word with readiness of mind.

The Heresy Hunters receive it with a mind ready to attack.

Their mind is made up that what the person is saying is wrong. This is not a readiness of mind. It goes on to say that many of them believe. The only thing the Heresy Hunter believes is that he can bring down the ministry that he is attacking. He does not believe the Bible. He only believes his theological view of the Bible.

Listening to the Heresy Hunter can mean the difference between life and death for the Christian. If you desire to be miserable and joyless and to take on a critical spirit, join the heresy hunter crowd. If you desire to have life and peace, stay with the Word of God and stay away from those who make it their life’s work to criticize others.

Because of this failure God had to send a new messiah, the Rev. Moon. The Truth about God’s Election pt. 3 Understanding what God sees!

To understand God’s choices for us we must get a grasp on how God views creation.
According to Scripture, God is “The high and lofty one who inhabits eternity.” Isa 57.

You will note here that God literally lives as eternity itself, God is wall to wall eternity, no end no beginning.
At some point BEFORE creation was begun the godhead decided what would happen in every “Motion of creation” from the beginning of “time” to the end of “time.” (Gen 1:31 “And God saw everything that He had made and behold, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning the sixth day.” and in Prov 3:19 “The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.”)

Creation is “the act of making, by new combinations of matter, invested with new forms and properties, and of subjecting to different laws; the act of shaping and organizing; as the creation of man and other animals, of plants and minerals.” As Heb 11:3 says: “Faith convinces us that God created the world through his word. This means what can be seen was made by something that could not be seen.” Remember that “Time” is absolute or it’s relative; absolute time is considered without any relation to bodies or their motions. Relative time is the sensible measure of any portion of duration, by means of motion. It was a creation of God and will have an end one day soon (Rev 10:6 “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:”), it was given to man to give him perspective on eternity and the Duration or continuance of God’s existence without beginning or end.

From our viewpoint of finite time we can see that God is better equiped to lay our lives out before him and tell us what to do and what not to do! God sees our existence as if it were a “time-line layed out on a drawing pad” with each personal decision we have made and will make, every pitfall, bad choice and every good decision. Our whole life is being viewed from heaven in detail, our past, our present and the yet future.

Ecc 3:11 “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”

Of this verse Clarke’s Commentary said “God has deeply rooted the idea of eternity in every human heart; and every considerate man sees, that all the operations of God refer to that endless duration. And it is only in eternity that man will be able to discover what God has designed by the various works he has formed.”

It was God the Father and the Will he spoke….

(John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.”) plus the Spirit of life from God

( Gen 1:1-2 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth; and the earth being without form and empty, and darkness on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moving gently on the face of the waters,….”)

that decided together every aspect of what would transpire through out time from the very atom’s to the thought you just had… (2Peter 3:8 “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”) in time. We NOT God are limited and controlled by time.

God filled Limited “time” that he designed with his “Unlimited Will” (His will is defined as what his heart says must take place to make his creation run effectively, his will is his word which is his BOND to us, what it says STANDS in eternity NOT what we think it means! He released his Word (Will) through the Spirit of creation to form the world in perfection….in the beginning.

Creation had NO flaws whatsoever UNTIL MAN TOOK THE WRONG PATH AND SINNED. {Note that the bible says that sin is like a “personal entity” in Genesis 4:7 “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.” The Hebrew here indicates that sin is something that lies in wait to attack like a person hiding in the shadows or as a crouching slave doing the bidding of his master.

The spirit of Sin is a like a virus that has entered into creation at the core of its D.N.A. structure and like a worm that has burrowed into our existence to take captive and enslave all of God’s perfection. The ‘God’s Word’ translation says it best:

Gen 4:7 “If you do well, won’t you be accepted? But if you don’t do well, sin is lying outside your door ready to attack. It wants to control you, but you must master it.”

From God’s perspective his creation has been marred and destroyed by “Sin” what would you do if something had entered your house and raped and destroyed all of what you loved and provided for all your life? Would you let it continue? Would you intervene? I would!

So why do we think God any different when he attempts to change the course of his own creation through Christ? Does he not have that right just as we have the right to change our circumstances for our family?

God’s choices are always based around how to deliver US from sin, our enemy is sin not God. Sin that is interwoven with our personal souls. This is his highest goal, to deliver us from ourselves! Just to understand that God is thinking of my existence in every action he takes is to put all else in perspective!

21 Truths About The Election of God: Part 2

Here is Truth number 2, a very important thought to consider about God’s Election of man to salvation. It is that God’s purpose for his creation preceded the work of his creation, that in his foreknowledge God knew every movement of the history of every atomic particle through out time and its relationship to your life and the lives of every man, woman, and child. God knew what you would decide to do in his plan before creation was born into existence. With that knowledge in mind let us realize that Satan and ALL of Hell itself CANNOT change a single thing ABOUT your Salvation…ever! No lie from him can alter your peace of mind unless YOU decide otherwise but the change is ONLY COSMETIC in nature not FACTUAL!

Acts 1:18 Plainly states..”Known to God are ALL HIS WORKS from the beginning of the world.”

Who are we to question the God that formed the smallest sub-atomic particle in the palm of his hand, that knew I would one day accept his grace and be saved? We presume to know more than the creator because of the pride we have in our small-minded accomplishments, never taking into consideration just how far from perfect we are! You see, God started perfection and Sin spoiled that perfection; twisting into the exact opposite of its intent in our lives. It is our IMPERFECTION that blinds us to our own ignorance and thus deceives us into believing the opposite of what will bring true peace.

We as human beings stand here judging God’s FINISHED WORKS with our imperfect little minds and actions BUT fail to judge our works the same as those of God….Why is that? Are we just afraid to face our failure as imperfect beings? Is it so hard for us to believe that someone else holds the keys to our success? Are we so filled with pride as to believe that we in our many imperfections could ever make a perfect thought about  our eternal destiny?

Just what is God’s purpose anyway? We define Purpose as “the intent behind an action being done, an object existing or being made or used for something.” God’s purpose then, was synonymous with the goal or the “intended result” of his actions in creation. Nothing that God did in creation ever conflicted with anything else in creation, there was perfect balance until SIN entered at the core of creation and ruined perfection. Each creative act of God accomplished  his intent of heart and it was ‘good”. Now because of “Sin’s mess” God must do an “end-around” the mess using the problem to the advantage of the person. God is perfect wisdom and knows the end from the beginning even though in our pride we think it could be done better…why? Because of demonic knowledge being inserted into our minds, which in some cases has validity not because Satan knows more than God but because HE KNOWS MORE THAN WE DO!

Purpose is a “designed fail-safe” in every particle in the universe that even “sin” cannot change, it may delay the obvious but purpose will prevail no matter what. The cause of the universe is God. And as he is outside of the physical creation he made and as Time itself is not eternal, but a created element, God can work unrestricted. Satan on the other hand is bound within the concept of Time and must act within its limitations. In eternity there is NO CLOCK to track us down. God operates on an eternal framework NOT on a Limited Time framework, that’s why his timing seems off from ours. When God WILLS something done he wills it from eternity where there is no beginning nor end, therefore what he wills HAS ALWAYS BEEN from his perspective of timelessness! When Satan “Wills” something done on the other hand it is bound to the timing of God not Satan, and thus ruled over by God and his church. We through the power of God can change the will of Satan in the lives of men and thus bring into perfection that which was imperfect, but is never as easy as it sounds in this sentence. After-all we are dealing with a being who after God is the most wise and knowledgable creäture in existence though imperfect in that knowledge because of his fall from heaven. Even in heaven before Satan’s fall, God was ALL-KNOWING as he still is! Satan is NO match for God’s knowledge nor his purpose for that matter, but Satan being a master at deception giving him the ability to manipulate his limited knowledge to seem more than he is and that is enough to deceive man.

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11).

Since God’s WILL is Eternal in nature it would be wrong for us to think of anything in the word of God as grounded to this limited existence or its impure science, if it states it in the word of God (which is his written WILL) THEN ALL THAT IS WRITTEN HAS BEEN FULFILLED ALREADY in Gods perspective. It would be totally correct to think of what God states in the Word of God as “SENT PRE-FULFILLED”  as written down 1,000’s of years ago, because when God says something IT IS ACCOMPLISHED AS IT LEAVES HIS LIPS! As the bible says in Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is (NOT JUST CONTAINS) THE EVIDENCE of things NOT NOW SEEN.” The Bible has WORDS that are the containers of FAITH (OR EVIDENCE to our world of God.) God’s promises come to us CONTAINING THE FULFILLMENT OF WHAT IS ASKED FOR within them, it is not “TIME” that’s required to believe BUT “GOD’S TIMING”, for if God sent the answer he knows the moment his purpose must be released to be effective within his creation. God made a plan for all of Eternity that was perfect in every detail….Satan plans his plans to interfere with God’s perfections BUT what even Satan cannot understand that God’s purposes once proclaimed from his essence cannot ever be reverted from. Satan is self-deceived, believing that HE not God can alter creation to his reputation and likeness. This blindness has passed to all men through sin and is not repairable except through repentance. True repentance places us in the position to be realigned with God’s original purpose which is totally in opposition to Satan’s plan for us and puts us on his “Hit list” to attack harder than others who follow his plan! This is why Bad things happen to “Repented” Good people who follow the original creative plan of God.

It is NOT in our power to know ALL there is to know of God’s perfect plans for us but it is in our power to know they are “perfect for us” in this time even as more of his plan is revealed in the next moment of time. It is required of us not to know the “end of plan” but to follow the plan to that end with much patience of soul. We as his body can find comfort in the working out of our lives as ALREADY accomplished before the foundations of creation by God but the man who knows not God’s working in his life finds this appalling to him, that someone else has control over his destiny. It is the NOT knowing that godless men take comfort in, because in not knowing is no guilt and in no guilt is false peace. But for the true believer peace is found in the knowing that God is in control. What makes the difference? Surrender of self-will to God’s will, takes the Christian from “no knowledge of true peace” to an in-depth peace of  soul that is layered every day with new revelations of God’s plan for him or her!

This is from a Lame web-site called and as can be plainly seen they get this stupid idea from “so-called believers” who have NO grounding in reality whatsoever and use this line of reason to say God’s plan is evil with this reasoning attached: “God’s plan” is the way that Christians traditionally explain things like amputations, cancer, hurricanes and car accidents. For example, if a Christian dies a painful and tragic death because of cancer, she dies as part of God’s plan. Her death has a purpose. God called her home for a reason. Even if something bad happens to a Christian, it is actually good because it is part of God’s plan.” and thus the result is this dumb statement:”If the concept of “God’s plan” is true, you can first of all see that God wants us to be aborting children. Every single abortion is planned by God, so God must be doing it for a reason.”

This line of reasoning has possessed the ungodly mind to discredit God when in fact it reveals just how far from perfect we are. This IN NO WAY is the truth, God’s plan has never been more misrepresented than in this way. They are assuming that all evil is a part of his plan when the bible is clear that evil is the by-product of man’s own desire coming in conflict with God’s purpose for good. That does not mean that God will not use man’s screw-up to get us back to his original perfect plan without the screw-up. Man not God is the creator of evil desire, and God does not DO EVIL , HE USES THE INTENT OF EVIL FOR A GOOD END that would not have happened without His intervention! The intent of Abortion is to do murder to the unborn but God’s intent is to turn this around for good..but how? First of all Abortion is not a single victim sin, it hurts all connected to it including the doctor performing the deed. So it is God’s purpose to save all involved after the fact, but he was not planning the death of the child to do it that is on man’s conscience. God can save by many and by few, from sin or through sin, that choice is ours. Does a doctor make men sick by intention only that he might heal them later? If men do not do this and we are made in God’s image, then God cannot be said to do this either by the same rules of logic!

No so-called Proof on the above site is unexplainable with simple spiritual logic. The problem is not what they say but with the direction of their question, it is always presupposed that God is imaginary, that he does not exist and in this state of mind no evidence is good enough to convince the mind otherwise. Even if God himself stood before an Atheist proving his power, the Atheist would never believe and blame the “God who isn’t there” for the whole mess he’s in. This is the mixed up state of the mind in the darkness of deception, because to believe in anything the Atheist says begs the question of God’s existence. If what the Atheist says of God is true then he MUST EXIST albeit in an evil twisted state but if God is NOT THERE then every word they use to insult him is pointless drivel ment to make them feel better in their denial!

Remember, the plan of God is not the same plan that Satan has for our lives and the two will always conflict with each other. The Atheist denies Satan’s existence so they cannot grasp the idea of a second plan in conflict with God’s plan, and the Church stepped in much conflict of its own in its belief of both so how can the unbeliever ever know the difference if we don’t? The world looks to false religion to see a God that’s repelled by religion’s hypocrisy and hates mans evil mental attempts to understand him that come short of his greatness. God can ONLY be understood through spiritual purity of heart, a repentant heart free from the sin of blindness. False human Religion is anything but pure, it is the blind leading the blind over a cliff. If anyone looks for God within this realm they find a mixed-up version of who God is, filtered through man’s ideas of what God should be like mixed with what the bible says he is like. Religion of men is “Conflict in motion” churning out daily more and more confusion and misdirection at every turn. ALL man made faith of any kind is guilty of this, it cannot be helped for true faith is born out of the true God and cannot be birthed out of “good intents”. This is the worlds play ground not God’s so we cannot find him there, mixed with mortal ideas. We insult the purpose of God by trying to understand him in mortal terms when he is bigger than the universe itself.

What is “The Election of God?” series:

21 Truths about the Election of God Part 1

Before I begin with this teaching about this very important subject I would first like to discuss the issue of “TRUTH” vs. “DOGMATIC IDEAS” as the concept of one man’s ideas against another do not join to form a Truth, necessarily. Many “truthful ideas” put together end to end by men do not make a doctrine of godly origin. It is very important to any biblical doctrine plainly taught in scripture that we not consume its obvious teaching and then turn around and ADD our ideas or TAKE AWAY God’s intent from it and thus be equally consumed by the wrath of God or our stupidity.
Too often we look at each churches “DOGMAS” or statements of faith  and assume that the truth of God lies there in every churches belief. But upon closer review it is not possible for this to be true. TRUTH, Biblical based exact Truth is EXCLUSIVE TO GOD ALONE, as he dictated it through the prophets!
Man on the other hand is INCAPABLE without the Holy Spirit’s help of finding or telling the truth as God sees truth. Why is this? Because man’s heart the bible says is “wholly wicked and perverse”! And without God’s cleansing power working 24\7, 365 days a year that perverseness blinds us to what the truth really is. Remember that God requires “100% truth” not partial watered down truth in any form. The Holy Spirit MUST o.k. what the Church teaches and believes or of what value is it? Many things have been stated over the years about the Election of God, who’s saved and why but the Truth of God remains after all the talk has faded into eternity.

The first truth from scripture that we must learn and learn well is that God HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE . “Eternity” is one of the most misunderstood and untaught biblical ideas of all time. When I say God has always been I DO NOT MEAN that God was at some point BORN out of nothingness in the distant past. GOD WAS before everything else WAS including time itself, he is the source of all physical matter the beginning of all forms of life ( Organic matter) and non-life ( Inorganic matter ) ! God is NOT “the Big Bang” he is the origin of the spark that began the Universe.
Eternity describes a state of being that has no beginning and no end outside of normal space-time. God is the source of Eternity and normal space-time!
There are many questions that man has about the nature of “time” and thus eternity itself like:

Time unfolds as a scroll before God who exists outside of Time!

1. We live in an expanding universe.

2. Mass radiates gravitons which interact with space.

3. Mass produces negative curvature in space.(General Relativity)

4 Time slows in negatively curved space. (General Relativity)

5. Time also slows in moving objects. (Special Relativity)

6. Forces cut in strength as part of slowing of time. (From the thought experiment)

The above concepts when combined with the following definition of time gives new insight into the laws of the universe:

Time is the presence of motion and forces and  caused by the expansion of space

1. Gravitons radiating from matter (under influence of expanding space) interact with space to slow its expansion.

2. Slower expansion produces negative curvature in space.

3. Motion is slower and forces are weaker where expansion of space is slower and this is perceived as slower time in gravity.

4. Total amount of motion and forces (i.e. Energy) imparted by expanding space to a mass is a constant (MC^2).
Therefore when the
velocity of an object is increased the motion at the atomic level reduces and forces weaken in proportion, which is the observed
slowing of time in moving bodies.
Is time an emergent concept?
Why does time slow down in gravity? “when an object is accelerated. To increase the velocity of an object we have to apply force. The force changes the way space acts on that object. The object interacts with space and the expansion of space slows in front of object
and becomes faster behind the object. As time is related to expansion of space this sets up a time differential with slower time in front of
the object and faster time behind perpetuating the motion. The objects moves in time differential from faster to slower time.”
Why does time slow down in motion ?
Because TIME around us IS PERCEIVED THROUGH our actions. We perceive when there is no motion time seems slows down in our perceptions.  The more preoccupied with life the faster time seems to go in our perception! God, being the origin of time cannot be limited by perceptions of time thus he can travel through time at will because he exists outside of time!
Why is this important to biblical teachings?
Because if we perceive God improperly from wrong beliefs then any biblical doctrine we attempt to teach will be perceived wrongly as well. Perception means “the act of perceiving or the ability to perceive; mental grasp of objects, qualities, etc. by means of the senses; awareness; comprehension, insight or intuition, or the faculty for these. It is the understanding, knowledge, etc. gotten by perceiving, or a specific idea, concept, impression, etc.
What we know about God directly affects how we believe everything in life and what direction our lives take, in relation to TRUTH. There is ONLY one Truth, and that is God; but once the concept of God is twisted by Satan into another form then any real Truth is altered from being an immovable anchor to being a mere concept in our minds. We then spend our lives finding ideas that match our versions of truth rather than being anchored to REAL TRUTH.
If it is not obvious by now where I’m going with this…here goes! Our problems start when we try to do with God what we do with Time…percieve him as “WE WILL him to be” instead of holding to what the bible says in black & white as a truthful perception of God himself. “Isn’t the concept of god a matter of individual perception?” No God cannot be looked at nor perceived as “what we want him to be in our limited finite minds as we do with our perceptions of time , he exists totally outside the concept of time.

The real Key to understanding all of Life is to Understand God first!

However, it is not God who is the “ever changing” concept here, he NEVER has and NEVER will change. It is our weak human perceptions of who God really is that keep changing with our lifestyle changes. In order to excuse our sins before a holy God we must “change who he is in our minds” so as not to feel guilty of our sin! To know the true and living God as the bible states is to be “Settled and Anchored” in our lives JUST AS GOD IS with himself! There is no way EVER to think wrong about anything in life if we become ONE with the creator of life. Instead we believe our “own press” about ourselves being the be all, end all in the universe of ideas…..FAR FROM IT!
“….many worship their consciences formed by their own earthly experiences. Their consciences are nothing more than an inner voice, a sort of a moral policeman that has taken up residence within. Can it be trusted? Do we trust ours? This is better than nothing, but conscience is easily perverted and often abnormally developed because it is almost entirely dependent upon upbringing and propaganda from this world’s media. Since this is Satan’s world, there is little chance that a person’s conscience will be entirely aligned with God’s standards…… Others superimpose on God their conceptions of a human father, but this, too, is woefully inadequate. What if one has no father as part of his life? What if his father was stupid, foolish, tyrannical, or over-indulgent? What kind of positive impression will that leave? Is God merely a grand old man, a head-patting, gray-headed, somewhat doddering person whose mind wanders back to better times, forgetful of what is occurring on the earth and in our lives?”

There will be much more in understanding Election as I go on in this teaching, and I am attempting to dispel common myths about salvation as I go so it may take some time to complete this series.

If you can't DO what you SAY, don't SAY what you'll DO!

When we turn on our T.V.’s and Radios or even read a Book, are we really beholding the unalterable truth? Are the facts we hear true facts or purposefully placed propaganda? Do we hear from Washington or the Churches the truth or are they stating a negative concept that cannot ever be proved to exist with the few facts revealed! Whenever the big picture is purposefully ignored then by extension we make the few facts put out there SEEM reasonable because they stand-alone without a firm foundation of truth!

The SAME is true of the religious church, they are ON PURPOSE doing things that God hates because they don’t care and really do hate everything that God loves in exchange for those simple earthly pleasures in this life…POWER and CONTROL! What they have not realized is that earthly power and control is so small in comparison to the riches of a heavenly eternal power base controlled by God.

When it comes to religion, are the scriptures we hear belted out over the airwaves in complete context or are we being duped into a false sense of spiritual protection? Are our leaders words really accepted by God or are they simply ordained fools tied to men? It is of the utmost importance that we all reevaluate where we stand both in our Politics and in our Faith, its high time that we use the freedom we have politically to VOTE out the lame brains and old useless men and women in Washington D.C. and in EVERY STATE that continues to propagandize our constitutional rights away! It is PAST time that the true Church use its freedom IN CHRIST to pray out the Chaff that has rooted within our ranks!

It is a tragedy of American politics and the Churches that so many of the officials are proven to be “hand in glove with the underworld of law-breakers” that they were voted in to deal with evil but instead make laws that make it easier for Evil to exist.

Are we as the people of God really according to Jude 1:20-21 “building up ourselves on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keeping ourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” This and ONLY this is true biblical Christianity, anything less is false Religion.

Is your God a LIVING GOD or a stone hearted Idol?

Religion, in the simplest form includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, and in man’s obligation to obey his commandments, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man’s accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. If your life therefore does not include and comprehend Christian theology, as a system of moral doctrine or principles.

True Christianity MUST be lived outwardly and INTERNALLY as a personal practical piety done for the love of God ALONE and never as a fake outer show of religion. The practice of moral duties without a biblically based belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not Christianity at all. Every false religion including false Christianity has this same pattern of ANTI-BIBLICAL PRACTICE….to worship the creature rather than the Creator which they have changed into a more allowable god that lets them think and act as they feel fit rather than a God that requires a payment for their disobedience which means: Neglect or refusal to obey; a violation of a command or prohibition; the omission of that which is commanded to be done, or the doing of that which is forbid; breach of duty prescribed by authority. Anytime false Religion has an inroad into Christianity the same thing results, the taking away, the covering up, the twisting of the Truth of God to be replaced at key places with the same old ideas that have always failed. No matter if its politics and the socialist movement or Religion and the world of false beliefs masked in Christian words, the same result is forthcoming…..DEATH!

Rom 1:25  “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

True Christian ideals are conformable to the facts of both science and to nature; being in accordance with the actual state of things and thus must be distinct from the theology that is only mental assent invented by and propagated by man. Real faith is godliness or real piety in practice not only words of intent. Consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow-men, in obedience to divine command, or from love to God and his law.

True Christianity is distinct from mere human virtue, or the natural inclination to morality that even Atheists portray daily. It exists as a fact only in the performance of the duties we owe directly to God, from a principle of obedience to his will from scripture. We must with great caution never indulge in the idea, that biblical morality can be maintained without real faith, for it would die on the vine of mans failed ideas. “Religion” in the simple definition is any system of faith and worship, so it does not in itself define TRUTH as many forms of “So-called Truth” exist but ONLY ONE is real truth that exists outside the realm of mans ideas.

Rom 1:28-32
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, spiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

Luke 16:15 says rightly “What is HIGHLY VALUED among men is DETESTABLE in God’s sight.” Remember that when the term “God’s Sight” is used it can just as easily be replaced by “God’s Vision within us”. When we are in obedience to his “Vision” for our lives, we are at the same time seeing the unsuitableness and extremely hateful; abominable things deserving our abhorrence, that God views everyday.

It is from this pile of garbage that the world deems valuable that most of “religion” derives its dogma not because it has to but because it chooses to of its own accord! No bad thing and not every good thing we have is usable in the work of God, this is why God bestows personal wisdom and spiritual discernment to better reveal his plans in our lives. In all this the Church has to realize that God does not look for powerful instruments but for instruments willing to be wielded by HIS POWER alone! Being busy working for the kingdom is not a Christian virtue because no matter how much “we” accomplish by being busy at work it only counts if that work is God’s work and not OURS!

The simple answer is found in John 6:28-29 (Amplified Bible)

“They then said, What are we to do, that we may [habitually] be working the works of God? [What are we to do to carry out what God requires?] Jesus replied, This is the work (The service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].”

Truth is very simple, believe and then no other way can God reveal or be revealed, so for the Atheist to say if I see it I’ll believe it is dishonest to the way God is revealed. Proof comes as belief comes and never before. This in no way says that the Proof is not in plain sight but rather it is seen as it really is by belief in the God who made it. When we view “The Creation” through the eyes of doubt and unbelief (Note: Skepticism is a healthy idea in the world otherwise we would fall for everything and gain nothing in life BUT doubt and disbelief go far beyond “natural skepticism” to the realm of “blind obedience” to self-made rules from personal experience rather than clear facts that lead to faith in God.

Where does your house stand…on the Rock or in the Sand?

Did you get that Mr. and Mrs. religious person? It’s NOT about how much we accomplish, it’s NOT about how many people we convince into believing our dogma, it’s never been about “The Us vs. THEM mentality of denominational-ism” BUT it is completely about “that which you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in, like His Messenger” This and ONLY this is the Work of God, because no matter what else we waste our time pursuing it all comes back to TRUST not political or religious bluster! Once we all do this simple thing then every other thing we do is blessed. WHY? Because if God is in it, it automatically succeeds! If God is not in it, then it automatically fails!

We quote “Not by might nor by sight but by my Spirit says the Lord” like we mean it and all the while we do the opposite by relying upon every fleshly practice that we ask God to bless in prayer. We say bless my finances while we do all in our power to get money the wrong way to answer our problems instead of trusting God to give the increase. God throughout history has used “Little numbers ( Gideon’s 300 men), and little money ( Elijah’s widow and her one jar of oil ), and the little stones against David’s Giant trouble, all so-called insurmountable odds! What is to stop God from doing the same thing today for our needs?

Proverbs 12:15
“The way of a fool is right IN HIS OWN SIGHT (Vision), but he who listens to council is wise.”

Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight to him, but at the end of it are the ways of death.”

We as the body of Christ must be very careful to work the works of God within the confines of the principles set forth in the bible not in our churches playbook written by men!Our understanding must grow beyond our pitiful political and religious playpen so that we can see that hypocrisy is deeper than celebrating a certain holiday or not celebrating it, it is doing anything that we do without the faith of God…..that’s the true hypocrisy in the church! Is it really too much to ask that Common sense be common to everyone who bears the name of Christ? The vision that God gave to his body is FAR MORE important than our small differences we expound on daily as if they were saving our souls.

The ten Commandments were not suggestions to follow but requirements for human survival. We do not have the right to pick and choose the ones we follow and certainly we cannot add more to God’s law than is required.

The Jews have a great saying:

“that no man is suspected of a thing but he has done it; and if he has not done the whole of it, he has done part of it, and if he has not done part of it, he has thought in his heart to do it, and if he has not thought in his heart to do it, “he has seen others do it, and has rejoiced”.”

Hypocrisy is the act of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy is thus the worst kind of lie and  comes from a desire to hide from others our actual motives or feelings.

The word hypocrisy comes from the Greek  (hypokrisis), which means “play-acting”, “acting out”, “coward” or “dissembling”. The word hypocrite is from the Greek word (hypokrites), the agentive noun associated with  (hypokrinomai), i.e. “I play a part.” Both derive from the verb  “judge” (“judgement”  (kritiki), “critics”) presumably because the performance of a dramatic text by an actor was to involve a degree of interpretation, or assessment, of that text.

The word is an amalgam of the Greek prefix hypo-, meaning “under”, and the verb “krinein”, meaning “to sift or decide”. Thus the original meaning implied a deficiency in the ability to sift or decide. This deficiency, as it pertains to one’s own beliefs and feelings, informs the word’s contemporary meaning.

Whereas hypokrisis applied to any sort of public performance (including the art of rhetoric), hypokrites was a technical term for a stage actor and was not considered an appropriate role for a public figure. In Athens in the 4th Century BC, for example, the great orator Demosthenes ridiculed his rival Aeschines, who had been a successful actor before taking up politics, as a hypokrites whose skill at impersonating characters on stage made him an untrustworthy politician. This negative view of the hypokrites, perhaps combined with the Roman disdain for actors, later shaded into the originally neutral hypokrisis. It is this later sense of hypokrisis as “play-acting,” i.e. the assumption of a counterfeit persona, that gives the modern word hypocrisy its negative connotation.

It is unfortunate that this “play acting” tends to define our lives from birth to the grave. We are duped into false beliefs early on and continue to fall prey to them throughout our lives from politics to religion. There is a measure of truth revealed to all men but so many refuse to profit by the light they have, and love the darkness they were born in rather than the light of the truth given to them. All who do not live up to the knowledge they possess, who do worse than they know, hold the truth in unrighteousness. They obstruct the truth, rather than let it have free scope.

Rom 1:32
“Not only do the same, but have pleasure in those that practise them” John Wesley comments on this verse: – “This is the highest degree of wickedness. A man may be hurried by his passions to do the thing he hates; but he that has pleasure in those that do evil, loves wickedness for wickedness’ sake. And hereby he encourages them in sin, and heaps the guilt of others upon his own head.”

These people become the “Enablers” for those who are sinning against nature and God by making the excuses and reasonings that prolong and blind us to our wrong doing. They are Jobs false friends who sound good to the fleshly ear, they give false peace and sooth the flesh until it feels better about the state its in INSTEAD OF COMING TO THE REALIZATION OF REPENTANCE!

Is There Morality in War? What Does the Bible Really Say?

thumbnail_bibledoctrineThe question of whether or not a believer in Jesus Christ can serve his or her country; kill the enemies of our country and at the same time fulfill the biblical mandate of loving your fellow man has troubled the conscience of many Christians.

Does any nation have the DIVINE RIGHT to exercise the sword or even to maintainstophim a war department?

Is it biblical to be a conscientious objector?

Is there a direct contradiction between the direct commands of God in Exodus 20:13 “Thou shalt NOT kill”
Deuteronomy 7:2 “. . . Thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them. . . “?

What is up here? Have we found a contradiction in the Bible?

This is real change but If they won't commit...don't relect them...THAT IS YOUR POWER!
This is real change but If they won't commit...don't relect them...THAT IS YOUR POWER!

The first thing we must understand and recognize is the clear biblical distinction between the spiritual kingdom on earth today; made up of believers in Jesus Christ and the earthly kingdom; composed of citizens of the national entity.

The biblical principles concerning the spiritual kingdom apply to the believer ONLY, while the biblical principles concerning the physical earthly kingdom are for BOTH us and the unbeliever alike.

The forefathers of this country understood this when they forged the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Jesus himself understood this when he stated: “… render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesars; and unto God the things which are God’s. “

The Christians responsibility is first to the body of Christ; then to the state, but they must not be confused as to the proper place and function of each one. They are BOTH ordained of God; but are NOT the same thing!

In Matthew 22 Jesus demonstrated the compatibility between Bible doctrine and our national heritage. In verses 1-14; he established the existence of a spiritual kingdom on earth. There are four divine institutions or principles set up by God under the divine laws of establishment for the perpetuation of the human race:

1.)Volition or free will; which is the basis of true freedom and which we as a people lost at the fall of man in the garden. But we must choose to be free even in the state of bondage.
2.) Marriage between a man and a women-Which is the stabilizer within the human race; without biblical Marriage relationships freedom is simply an illusion.
3.) Family– which is the basis for orderly societal stability.
4.) Nationalism– which exists to KEEP THE WORLD from turning into chaos and prevent Satan from completely taking over the world according to:

Isaiah 14:12 “How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer; son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground you who weakened the nations!”

As you can see without strong national pride and heritage rooted in biblical doctrine we could not begin to protect our freedom or guarantee effective evangelism. The Bible nowhere advocates INTER-nationalism… period!

Amos 3:3 says: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”

Human government was established in Genesis 9. God himself divided the land masses and the people into separate nations to prevent them from being destroyed.

Now this is the REAL bridge to nowhere.....the U.N. is a big joke!
Now this is the REAL bridge to nowhere.....the U.N. is a big joke!

Why? Because in Genesis 11:1-9 Internationalism was becoming the breeding ground for a concentration of wickedness and a total rejection of God.

God’s indictment against internationalism (The U.N.) at the Tower of Babel was the dispersion of the human race. He would give them different languages as a barrier to prevent future international schemes succeeding. God himself ordained geographical boundaries so that they would begin to seek the lord according to Acts 17:26-27. Nationalism provides law and order to protect individual volition so that people may have freedom of privacy within the law. It provides freedom to own property; to make decisions and conduct a legitimate business apart from the governments interference. A national entity must provide a system of free enterprise where there is the opportunity for advancement compatible with their individual ability.

Authority within the National Entity

The divine establishment of authority is spoken of in Romans 13:1-7. We as believers have a “Mode of operation” to function as citizens of both the spiritual kingdom and the national kingdom.
Two kingdoms co-exist and both have functions within the national entity:they are to be coordinated; but NEVER combined!

Both the spiritual and the national should never be in conflict with each other, but when the Bible is ignored and the principle of the separation of Church and state which is supposed to protect the Church entity from government establishment of a particular denomination getting supremacy over the others. Thomas Jefferson suggested and believed in this principle in his letters to a Baptist minister who was afraid of one denomination or religion gaining preeminence within our governments structure. That a WALL of separation between the actions of one man-made institution and the state DOES EXIST and should exist; but at the same time a WALL does NOT exist to separate the principles of God’s laws from our governments laws- the two are and must be one.

1.)There exists two kingdoms: Church and State.
2.)There is a clear distention between Church and State.
3.)The Christian has the responsibility to the state as well as to God.
4.)Whenever the State does not follow Biblical concepts of nationalism; then the believer is to declare his or her allegiance to God by making the issues of salvation and other doctrines clear. This helps the state define and maintain it’s freedoms and if the state refuses to repent it seals it’s judgment to come!
5.)The Church is to support GOOD government; but NEVER to become that government! We do not “condone practice” but we “condone principles”. These rules restrain and block unbelievers from practicing evil acts in overflow as in Babel. The Believer is restrained by their conscience ruled over by the Holy Spirit!

The Divine View of the Military

I believe NO ONE has the right to avoid Military service or to be a so-called conscientious objector on the basis of morality; and certainly not on the basis of religion or Christian belief. From the standpoint of the Bible; there are no such creatures as conscientious objectors. There are COWARDS and and people who are totally ignorant of bible doctrine; but there are no biblical reasons for any one to be a conscientious objector.

Allow me to demonstrate to you from the scripture and our own government doctrines that the Supreme courts ruling; permitting exemption from military service or the draft on moral grounds is contrary to biblical doctrine.

This principle is strongly expressed in:

“The American Creed” by William Tyler Page; adopted by an act of Congress in April the 6Th 1918:which states

Come on! Think about it....where would we be today if we had not WON WWII?
Come on! Think about it....where would we be today if we had not WON WWII?

“I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy IN A REPUBLIC; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon these principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, support it’s constitution; to obey it’s laws, to respect it’s flag, and to DEFEND IT against ALL enemies. “

The Bible has a great deal to say concerning War. The real confusion comes in regard to the ignorance of God’s viewpoint on the subject! Whether or not you like war; the bible teaches that warfare which is necessary to protect:
1.) Your Country and
2.) To defend your freedoms under God is BOTH a moral right and justified END in itself! Now I am not referring to the immoral acts that take place on both sides of a war but to the moral principle of war when necessary!

What about fighting and KILLING the enemies of America? Is this a moral or Immoral stand?

“Thou shalt not kill” Does this happen in war? Yes, sometimes in war as in life people do “Murder” without cause in war; BUT the term to KILL here is “Murder without cause” not the same thing as killing of the enemies of a nation under moral defense. This commandment is referring to “Homicide Murder” under normal social conditions not wartime conditions! If it were not for National Wars to protect nations from conquers all the world would have been in Chaos century’s ago!

Eccl. 3:3 says that there is “a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up. “

Eccl. 3:8 says there is “a time to love and a time to hate, a time OF WAR; and a time of peace. “

There will always be in the framework of this present world system in spite of man’s best efforts for peace. Jesus said clearly that:”. . ye shall hear of wars and rumors of war; be ye not troubled:for such things MUST be. . . ” (Mark 13:7; Matt 24:6; Luke 21:9 )You can alleviate poverty but not eradicate it completely ( Deut 15:11; John 12:8)

War cannot be completely abolished because of the old sin nature which resides in every person and because of Satan’s personal ruler ship over this “world system” (John 12:31).
Only Christ can and will abolish both poverty and War when he returns to earth. During his Millennial reign; the swords will be turned into plow sheers; the spears into pruning hooks and man shall be taught war no more. (Isaiah 2:4; Mic. 4:3)

Until then, war will continue to be a doctrine from the word of God we must deal with. (Eccl. 3:8)
According to biblical standards WAR is not for Children but only Adults although at times in our own history as with other nations teens were drafted but the bible says in Numbers 1:2-3 and 26:4 and sets the standard at 20 years and above! There was an exception stated for the Jews in Deuteronomy 24:5 that certain adults were not to go to war.

The man with a new wife shall not go to war nor be charged with any business; simply because God knew that he would not have his mind on the war or his business so he was free from war and business for one year.

JUST warfare is from God

NOT all warfare is from God or justified in any way, War for personal gain or political aggrandizement such as what the Nazi movement or Japanese governments of “National Worship” over the world. As a mad dog must be destroyed, so that it’s oppression and evil be stopped forever never to rise again! God uses War to Judge all depraved , sin-filled nations whose viewpoint is incompatible with Divine Nationalism. Many times in the Old Testament God allowed War to destroy a Nation completely to keep it’s corruption from spreading or to preserve his people from destruction.

(Read Genesis 15:14, 16. Leviticus 18:25; Amos 2:9; I Kings 21:26)

In I Chronicles 5:19-22 The Jews were fighting the Hagarites-a branch of the Arabs descended from Hagar. This War was a part of the Conquest of Canaan ordered by God as Judgment for the Canaanites’ Apostasy of vile sin. Verse 22 reads “. . . for there fell down many slain; because the WAR WAS OF GOD. . . . “This war was God’s WILL, and an enemy was KILLED!

In God’s will there MUST be a Decisive defeat of his Enemies

Total annihilation and decisive defeat of the enemies of God or a Nation are the ONLY way to assure complete PEACE not listening to talking heads at the U. N. or “False political strongholds” held by Cowards who fear men!

Annihilation means the total eradication of all the enemies strongholds NOT the capturing of small towns and villages or geographic areas back and forth. Enemies MUST be decimated down to the last man and this alone involves effective strategy, tactics and logistics in order to accomplish real lasting peace.

(Read Deuteronomy 20:17, 20; Joshua 11:21-23; 14:11-15; Psalm 46:8-9)

We must realize that the Bible is “PRO-JUST WAR” But the problem in a lot of the wars the U. S. has fought in is that we have not fought a Just war because we have not gone far enough to win decisively, we’ve fought politically instead of God’s way! The Vietnam and Korean conflicts are the perfect examples of a political wars for personal agendas in Washington. We tied our soldiers hands behind their backs with little support; this is NOT a biblical War but should have been! It is not that we went to war that was wrong but the simple fact that we went for person gain and not with the blessings of God!If peace is not the result then the war was useless and accomplished nothing.

Psalm 18:34 says “God teaches my hands TO WAR. . . ” and the believers faith protects us in time of War. Job 5:20 says “In famine he shall redeem you from death: and IN WAR from the power of the sword. “

Remember this; NO people have ever been FREE without having that freedom challenged by those who hate freedom; cowards who hide behind women and children and attack at the backs never looking us in the eyes, these must be DECIMATED UTTERLY or we give them our freedom to be human beings blessed by God! In both the struggle and the perpetuation of Jewish freedom after the Exodus; God was the Commander in Chief of their armies (Joshua 5:13-6:2).

Jesus in War is NOT the “meek and mild” painted figure in religion; his garment is dipped in the blood of his enemies for whenever you see the title. . . “Lord of Hosts” you are seeing “Lord of heavens Armies” this is our banner of Victory in War. When America fights she must fight in submission to her true Commander in Chief!

THE HEAVENLY CITY OF LIGHT coming down from the Heavens!

images6The Holy City

“That great city—the holy Jerusalem.”—Revelation 21:10.This city is not earthly, but heavenly, and is among the heavenly things said by the apostle to be purified by the ‘better sacrifices’ (Hebrews 4:23). Why did such a city need ‘purifying?’ Not because it was unclean, but because sinners were to dwell in it; and they would have defiled it, had it not been for the great sacrifice. For the blood does two things—it makes the unclean clean, and it keeps the clean from being defiled. Its use in the holy of holies was not to cleanse that place, but to prevent its being defiled by the entrance of the sinner. Our possession of this heavenly city, then, we owe to the blood of the Lamb; and hence He stands on Mount Zion, and sits on the throne, as the Lamb slain (Revelation 5:6, 14:1).

The earthly Jerusalem is to be cleansed from its impurity by the blood of the Lamb; and the heavenly Jerusalem is to be preserved from impurity by the same blood. The inhabitants of both will find that they owe all to this blood. It is the blood which opens the entrance—and it is the blood which secures the everlasting possession for sinners. This double efficacy of the blood we see also in the case of the elect angels. It is this that keeps them from falling, just as it is this that raises man out of his fall. Let us prize that blood which works such wonders. It is ‘precious blood.’ O man, do not trample on it!

But let us mediate on the city as described in these two chapters. It contains in it everything that is excellent and lovely, perfect and enduring.1. It is a great city. ‘That great city,’ said John, gazing on it. Its province is vast, beyond Babylon, or Nineveh, or Paris, or London. That ‘mighty city,’ says John, speaking of Babylon the Great (Revelation 18:10); but this is mightier far. There has been no city like it. It is the city, the one city—the great metropolis of the mighty universe—the mighty city of the mighty God.2. It is a well-built city. Its builder and maker is God. Its foundations are eternal; its walls are jasper; it gates pearls; its streets paved with gold. It is ‘compactly built together,’ a perfect cube, and complete in all its parts, without a break or flaw, or weakness or deformity.3. It is a well-lighted city. Something brighter than sun and moon is given to fill its heaven. The glory of God lights it; the Lamb is its ‘light’ or ‘lamp,’ so that it needs no candle, no sunlight. There is no night there.4. It is a well-watered city. A pure river of the water of life flows through its streets, proceeding from the throne of God and the Lamb. What must its waters be! What must be the rivers of pleasure there! Who in it can ever thirst? Its inhabitants shall thirst no more.5. It is a well-provisioned city. The tree of life is there, with its twelve variety of fruits and its health-giving leaves. It has more than Eden had. It is paradise restored; Paradise and Jerusalem in one; Jerusalem in Paradise, and Paradise in Jerusalem.6. It is a well-guarded city. Not only has it gates, and walls, and towers, which no enemy could scale or force; but at the gates are twelve angels, keeping perpetual watch.7. It is a well-governed city. Its king is the Son of God, the King of kings, Immanuel, the King eternal, whose scepter is righteousness who loves righteousness and hates iniquity. No misrule is there, no disorder, no lawlessness, no rebellion.8. It is a well-peopled city. It has gathered within its walls all generations of the redeemed. Its population is as the sands or the stars; the multitude that no man can number; the millions of the risen and glorified.9. It is a holy city. Its origin is heavenly, and it is perfect as its builder. Nothing that defiles shall enter; no spot or speck or shadow of evil. All is perfection there, divine perfection.10. It is a glorious city. The glory that fills it, and encircles it, is the glory of God. All precious stones are there; no marble nor granite such as we boast of now—all of it is gold, and pearls, and gems. Everything resplendent is there. It shines like the sun.11. It is a blessed city. It is truly ‘the joyous city.’ It is the throne of the blessed One, and all in it is like Him. Its name is Jerusalem—the city of peace. Its King’s name is Solomon—the Prince of peace. There is no enemy there; no sickness, no curse, no death, no weeping, no pain, no sorrow, no change forever. Those who dwell in it shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more (ch. 7:16, 17).

Blessed city! City of peace, and love, and song! Fit accompaniment of the new heavens! Fit metropolis of the new earth, wherein dwells righteousness! How eagerly should we look for it! How worthy of it should we live! It has not yet arrived. Eye has not seen it. But God points to it above, and assures us that it shall come. The right of citizenship is to be had now; and those who are to dwell in it are not angels, but men; not the unfallen, but the fallen. It is as such that we apply for the ‘freedom of the city.’ He who is its Builder and Maker gives it freely. He who is its Prince, whose blood has bought and opened it, gives it freely. He waits to receive applications—no, He entreats men to apply. He announces that whoever will only take Him at His word, and trust Him for entrance into it, shall have it. He specially proclaims to us His own sacrifice, His infinite propitiation, His divine blood-shedding on the cross, and gives us to know that whoever will receive the testimony to this great work of atonement shall enter in through the gates into the city. It is the blood that brings us to the mercy seat—it is the blood that brings us into the city. It will be a joy to enter that joyous city. By this joy we beseech you now to make sure of your citizenship, by making sure of your connection with the King. He who has the King—has the city.

It will be a sorrow to be shut out. By that sorrow we entreat you to make sure. Believing the good news, become citizens of this great and holy city. Then all shall be well with you forever! The New Jerusalem

Map of The New JerusalemZechariah 14 describes the map of the area. The land will be changed.

  1. Mount of Olives (Verse 4). This mountain will split and form a mountain range in the north and south.
  2. Valley (Verse 5, 10). The city will be located on the plains of a valley between these mountains.
  3. Hill (Verse 10). Jerusalem will be on a hill on this plain.
  4. River (Verse 8). A river of living water flows east and west from Jerusalem into a sea in the east and a sea in the west. This is the same river of life that flows from the throne of God. (Revelation 22: 1)
  5. Sun, Moon and Stars (Verse 7). Outer space will change also. Their light will be dimmer than the light coming from the new earth. (Revelation 21: 23)
  6. New Jerusalem. The city comes from heaven, through space, and lands on the Mount of Olives. (Revelation 21: 2, 10)
Green Square. 375 mile border. Blue Square. 1500 mile border. New Jerusalem map The New JerusalemMount of Olives. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall split in the middle of it toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And you shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal: yes, you shall flee, like as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with you. (Zechariah 14: 4-5)Size. The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as its width; and he measured the city with the rod; fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. (Revelation 21: 16)

Since the language is ambiguous, the length of each side of the city could be either 375 miles or 1500 miles.

375 Miles (604 kilometers).

The New Jerusalem is 375 miles long and 375 miles wide. It extends from the bottom of the Sinai peninsula to the middle of Syria. And from Cairo to the western border of Iraq. This essentially enclosed the actual area of the Promised Land.

It is also 375 miles high. This extends over 200 miles higher than where the space shuttle flies.

Putting this in perspective, clouds can extend up to 11 miles, the space shuttle orbits at about 150 miles and the space station orbits at about 220 miles.

Our tallest buildings are about a quarter of a mile high.

1500 Miles (2414 kilometers).

If the city is 1500 miles in all three direction, then it extends from the western border of Egypt to eastern Iraq. And from the top of the Black sea to the southern border of Saudi Arabia.

Notice that at this size these facts become very important.

  1. Garden of Eden. The center of the eastern wall, the center gate is located exactly in the place where the Garden of Eden is believed to exist.
  2. The Gate of God. “Babel” means the gate of God. Notice that it was built near the Garden of Eden.
  3. Magog. The Land of Magog is just outside the city. According to Revelation 21, when the New Jerusalem is surrounded, they will come from Gog and Magog.
  4. Egypt and Assyria. They are a part of this enclosed structure. This fulfills the following prophecy. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing In the midst of the land: Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.” (Isaiah 19: 24-25)
  • Egypt “My People”. Two tribes, the children of Joseph were half Egyptian.
  • Assyria “The Work of My Hands”. Abraham was a Syrian from Babylon.
  • Israel “My inheritance”. This is the nation God created through a covenant.
The Garden of Eden “And the Lord God planted a garden towards the east in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed”“And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became four rivers. The name of the first is Pishon: it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: if flows around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel [Tigris]: it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.”

(Genesis 2: 8, 10-14).So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the Cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

(Genesis 3: 24).

There are several theories about the location of the Garden of Eden.

  • Iraq. On land, near Ur where the Tigris and Euphrates join before flowing into the Persian Gulf.
  • Persian Gulf. Under the waters of the shores of the Persian Gulf near Iraq.
  • Turkey. Where the Tigris and Euphrates originate. Although it is a possible source, this is not located east of Israel or east of Babylon. So this is wrong.
  • United States. In the south east, along the Florida, Georgia and Alabama border. The United States was joined to Africa in Pangea, but it was not east of Israel. So this is wrong.

Problems in the Garden

The Gihon and the Pishon no longer exist. But the location of the Gihon river has been a problem for all theories, because it does not flow through Cush. In fact, it flows north from the head of all four rivers.

There are two possible explanations:

  1. Nimrod, the Son of Cush. The Gihon flowed through the land of Nimrod. He lived in that area and built the tower of Babel. So, technically, that area is also the land of Cush.
  2. A Circluar River The Gihon could have made a circle around the Arabian coast and joined with the Nile. In fact, there are reports of an Egyptian legend that the Nile was circular. Babylonians mentioned a great river named the “Bitter River” which encircled the earth. Josephus wrote that the River of Eden encircled the earth and was the source of four great rivers Heaven
  • A Name. The Holy city gets a name that reflects its character.

    • Jerusalem (“The City of Peace”). It has a gate that never closes because there is no

    • fear. YHWH Shammah (“The Lord is There”). Since the New Jerusalem becomes

    • the new throne of God. “The circumference of the city shall be eighteen thousand

    • cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord is There.”

    • (Ezekiel 48: 35) YHWH Tsidkenu (“The LORD is our Righteousness”). (Jeremiah

    • 33: 16) Hephzibah (“My delight is in her”). God is as happy over us as a

    • bridegroom is for his bride. Beulah (“Married”). Christ comes to marry us and the

    • land and we get the rights of children and the bride. It will no longer be said to

    • you, “Forsaken (Azubah)”, Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “Desolate

    • (Shemamah)”. But you will be called “My delight is in her (Hephzibah)” and your

    • land “Married (Beulah)”. For the Lord delights in you and to Him your land will

    • be married. (Isaiah 62: 4)

    • The Wicked Are Not There. This is referred to directly and symbolically.

      • And there was no more sea. This could refer to the restored Eden where there

      • was no large bodies of water. However, the wicked are symbolically described

      • as the sea in prophecy and this text could also be referring to this fact. And he

      • said to me, The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and

      • multitudes, and nations, and tongues. (Revelation 17: 15)

      • But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. (Isaiah 57: 20)

      • The Fearful, and Unbelieving (Verse 8). Those who are sinful, who do not

      • “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”, will be fearful at the presence of God.

      • They

      • do not have the perfect love which puts aside all fear. Fear or cowardice is not

      • a sin, but it may lead to the silent acceptance of sin around you because you

      • value yourself more than others. The reference to the cowardly specifically

      • targets the people in the last days who need moral courage to stand up against

      • the beast at the risk of their life.

      • The Dogs. These are the same people outside the city who surround it and

      • attack God. They are defeated and destroyed. When they become ashes on the

      • earth, they literally become the footstool of God. Outside are the dogs and

      • sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and

      • everyone who loves and practices lying. (Revelation 22: 15) This is the same

      • list of losers in Revelation 21: 8. Even though people are now teaching that

      • the law has been abolished, we still find Heaven describing the righteous and

      • wicked in terms of their attitude towards the commandments. The law of God is eternal.

  • Understanding that your Weakness IS your strength!!!

YOUR WEAKNESSES ARE YOUR PERSONAL STRENGTH: THEY ARE THE ROAD ON WHICH GOD WILL BRING YOUR DELIVERANCE! 2Co 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such a one caught up to the third heaven.

2Co 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

2Co 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

2Co 12:5 Of such a one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

2Co 12:6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

2Co 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

    2Co 12:7 –

By reason of the exceeding greatness (tēi huperbolēi). Instrumental case, “by the excess.” That I should not be exalted overmuch (hina mē huperairōmai). All kinds of affliction had befallen the apostle. Yet none of those did he deprecate. But here he speaks of one, as above all the rest, one that macerated him with weakness, and by the pain and ignominy of it prevented his being lifted up mere, or, at least, not less, than the most vehement head ache could have done; which many of the ancients say he labored under. 2Co 12:10 – Weaknesses – Whether proceeding from Satan or men. For when I am weak – Deeply conscious of my weakness, then does the strength of Christ rest upon me.

    2Co 12:9 –

    He said (εἴρηκεν)

Rev., correctly, He hath said. The force of the perfect tense is to be insisted on. It shows that the affliction was still clinging to Paul, and that there was lying in his mind when he wrote, not only the memory of the incident, but the sense of the still abiding power and value of Christ’s grace; so that because the Lord hath said “my grace,” etc., Paul can now say, under the continued affliction, wherefore I take pleasure, etc., for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong. A more beautiful use of the perfect it would be difficult to find in the New Testament.

    My strength

The best texts omit my, thus turning the answer into a general proposition: strength is perfected in weakness; but besides the preeminent frigidity of replying to a passionate appeal with an aphorism, the reference to the special power of Christ is clear from the words power of Christ, which almost immediately follow. Compare 1Co_2:3, 1Co_2:4; 2Co_4:7; Heb_11:34. Rev., rightly, retains my italicized.

May rest upon (ἐπισκηνώσῃ) Only here in the New Testament. The simple verb

σκηνόω to dwell in a tent is used by John, especially in Revelation. See on Joh_1:14. The compound verb here means to fix a tent or a habitation upon; and the figure is that of Christ abiding upon him as a tent spread over him, during his temporary stay on earth.

    For Christ’s sake

This may be taken with all the preceding details, weaknesses, etc., endured for Christ’s sake, or with I take pleasure, assigning the specific motive of his rejoicing: I take pleasure for Christ’s sake.

"Giant Killing Faith" Simple to get, Simple to use! Lesson #2

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17.) For therein is the righteousness (The power that makes creation act within the framework of God’s Justice) of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

The Righteousness that God himself transmits from HIS BEING into our “spirits” at the new birth is carried into us through the Word of God when we accept what he says at face value WITHOUT PROOF BEFOREHAND!

You see faith in God is not based upon proof but upon trust and AFTER WE TRUST, then the proof is revealed to our “minds” carried along by the REBORN spirit of man that has already trusted in God and thus proved as “reasonable evidence” of our faith.
The whole Idea that we must prove something before we believe it was INVENTED by men who could in NO OTHER WAY DISPROVE GOD. So they said, “Well I just won’t believe there’s a God UNTIL I CAN SEE, HEAR, AND FEEL HIM, with my 5 physical senses!” Of course they don’t use that line of reasoning in any other venue in life, where they should use it…like how on earth do you sit in a strange chair you’ve never sat in before if you don’t KNOW FOR A PHYSICAL FACT ITS SAFE TO SIT IN? It takes FAITH to accept anything for granted or at face value, doesn’t it? How can you practice anything in life at all with this stupid reasoning of “Proof before Belief”, the answer is simple NO ONE CAN or ever has lived this way. This is simply the mental version of the physical idea of putting the “CART BEFORE THE HORSE”…because you MUST first trust that the chair is safe in your mind before you sit down WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT otherwise you would never sit down unless you fell down from exaustion. If an Atheist would first “Trust that God would Prove himself to him” then God would reveal himself immediately in every way possible, but we tend to NOT open the door of trust first as we must…rather we think that its God’s job to prove everything, so there’s no way to ALLOW for the evidences of the faith to convince us God is real.

It is a cheap cop-out to put the burden of proof on God to prove himself real when the true burden rest on the Atheist to prove BEYOND DOUBT that God cannot be real, this THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO.

So just what is Faith? According to scripture faith does not fit the MOLDY DEFINITION of the UN-believer who think we belief in God out personal weakness or because of a lack of real options, true bible faith is not based in nor can it work within the framework of the reasonings of men but in the wisdom of Gods mind. Faith to believe in God will only be released from God to us when we first release a total Trust in God towards him. When these two meet a wonderful thing happens called the “new birth”….NOT A SECOND “FIRST BIRTH”, as a silly Atheist once stated but a second DIFFERENT BIRTH, one that RECONNECTS the line to talk two-way with God, solving that “dropped call” because of sin the ultimate “line blocker.” Once connected on this new line we experience an open communication with God and evidences we could not clearly see are easy to both see and feel because the line of sight has changed, and our focus has cleared.

This is why as in life itself as in Christianity, true belief is NOT based in “proof before trust” as with the Atheist but in TRUST THAT RELEASES FAITH FROM GOD, { God’s Faith CONTAINS WITHIN IT THE EVIDENCE REQUIRED TO BELIEVE TRUTH} thus faith becomes reasonable to us and acceptable to our physical senses and then there are no contradictions between what we know and what God says.

Hebrews 11: 1 states clearly what real faith is : “NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” True faith already HAS WITHIN IT THE PROOF WE SEEK FOR BUT TO GET IT WE MUST DO ONE THING …..SIMPLY TRUST HIM TO DO IT!

A lesson in overcoming Giants! Lesson #1

Are you a real Born-again believer? Do you struggle daily to keep you head above the waters of despair? Do you want to overcome but find yourself overwhelmed instead?

Every believer including the most proficient and seemingly blessed Christians experience times when life becomes in their eyes a giant staring them in the face. And the only reason we ever get to these places is NOT because we lack faith or even power in the Spirit of God!

Let’s look into God’s word to see just what these giants are…from God’s viewpoint instead of from the flesh:

Giants in scripture are:From Easton’s Bible Dic.
Heb. nephilim, meaning “violent” or “causing to fall” (Gen_6:4). These were the violent tyrants of those days, those who fell upon others. The word may also be derived from a root signifying “wonder,” and hence “monsters” or “prodigies.” In Num_13:33 this name is given to a Canaanitish tribe, a race of large stature, “the sons of Anak.” The Revised Version, in these passages, simply transliterates the original, and reads “Nephilim.”

(2.) Heb. rephaim, a race of giants (Deu_3:11) who lived on the east of Jordan, from whom was descended. They were probably the original inhabitants of the land before the immigration of the Canaanites. They were conquered by Chedorlaomer (Gen_14:5), and their territories were promised as a possession to Abraham (Gen_15:20). The Anakim, Zuzim, and Emim were branches of this stock. In Job_26:5 (R.V., “they that are deceased;” marg., “the shades,” the “Rephaim”) and Isa_14:9 this Hebrew word is rendered (A.V.) “dead.” It means here “the shades,” the departed spirits in Sheol. In 2Sa_21:16, 2Sa_21:18, 2Sa_21:20, 33, “the giant” is (A.V.) the rendering of the singular form ha raphah, which may possibly be the name of the father of the four giants referred to here, or of the founder of the Rephaim. The Vulgate here reads “Arapha,” whence Milton (in Samson Agonistes) has borrowed the name “Harapha.” (See also 1Ch_20:5, 1Ch_20:6, 1Ch_20:8; Deu_2:11, Deu_2:20; Deu_3:13; Jos_15:8, etc., where the word is similarly rendered “giant.”) It is rendered “dead” in (A.V.) Psa_88:10; Pro_2:18; Pro_9:18; Pro_21:16 : in all these places the Revised Version marg. has “the shades.” (See also Isa_26:14.)

(3.) Heb. ‘Anakim (Deu_2:10, Deu_2:11, Deu_2:21; Jos_11:21, Jos_11:22; Jos_14:12, Jos_14:15; called “sons of Anak,” Num_13:33; “children of Anak,” Num_13:22; Jos_15:14), a nomad race of giants descended from Arba (Jos_14:15), the father of Anak, that dwelt in the south of Palestine near Hebron (Gen_23:2; Jos_15:13). They were a Cushite tribe of the same race as the Philistines and the Egyptian shepherd kings. David on several occasions encountered them (2Sa_21:15-22). From this race sprung Goliath (1Sa_17:4).

(4.) Heb. ’emin, a warlike tribe of the ancient Canaanites. They were “great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims” (Gen_14:5; Deu_2:10, Deu_2:11).

(5.) Heb. Zamzummim (q.v.), Deu_2:20 so called by the Amorites.

(6.) Heb. gibbor (Job_16:14), a mighty one, i.e., a champion or hero. In its plural form (gibborim) it is rendered “mighty men” (2 Sam. 23:8-39; 1Ki_1:8; 1 Chr. 11:9-47; 1Ch_29:24.) The band of six hundred whom David gathered around him when he was a fugitive were so designated. They were divided into three divisions of two hundred each, and thirty divisions of twenty each. The captains of the thirty divisions were called “the thirty,” the captains of the two hundred “the three,” and the captain over the whole was called “chief among the captains” (2Sa_23:8). The sons born of the marriages mentioned in Gen_6:4 are also called by this Hebrew name.

A lesson in biblical overcoming BEFORE THE CROSS was the victory of David over Israel’s LITERAL GIANT, BUT EVERYTHING HE DID WAS SPIRITUAL IN NATURE and can be repeated by you over any life’s troubles.

Beloved, the eighth and youngest son of Jesse, a citizen of Bethlehem. His father seems to have been a man in humble life. His mother’s name is not recorded. Some think she was the Nahash of 2Sa_17:25. As to his personal appearance, we only know that he was red-haired, with beautiful eyes and a fair face (1Sa_16:12; 1Sa_17:42).

His early occupation was that of tending his father’s sheep on the uplands of Judah. From what we know of his after history, doubtless he frequently beguiled his time, when thus engaged, with his shepherd’s flute, while he drank in the many lessons taught him by the varied scenes spread around him. His first recorded exploits were his encounters with the wild beasts of the field. He mentions that with his own unaided hand he slew a lion and also a bear, when they came out against his flock, beating them to death in open conflict with his club (1Sa_17:34, 1Sa_17:35).

While David, in the freshness of ruddy youth, was thus engaged with his flocks, Samuel paid an unexpected visit to Bethlehem, having been guided thither by divine direction (1Sa_16:1-13). There he offered up sacrifice, and called the elders of Israel and Jesse’s family to the sacrificial meal. Among all who appeared before him he failed to discover the one he sought. David was sent for, and the prophet immediately recognized him as the chosen of God – chosen to succeed Saul, who was now departing from the ways of God, on the throne of the kingdom. He accordingly, in anticipation, poured on his head the anointing oil. David went back again to his shepherd life, but “the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward,” in other words David had overcoming INSIDE HIM and “the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul” (1Sa_16:13, 1Sa_16:14).

Not long after this David was sent for to soothe with his harp the troubled spirit of Saul, who suffered from a strange melancholy dejection. He played before the king so skillfully that Saul was greatly cheered, and began to entertain great affection for the young shepherd. After this he went home to Bethlehem. But he soon again came into prominence. The armies of the Philistines and of Israel were in battle array in the valley of Elah, some 16 miles south-west of Bethlehem; and David was sent by his father with provisions for his three brothers, who were then fighting OR COWERING on the side of the king. On his arrival in the camp of Israel, David (now about twenty years of age) was made aware of the state of matters when the champion of the Philistines, Goliath of Gath, came forth to defy Israel. What did David do when he heard the fears spoken by his peers about “The Giant”?First he did NOT repeat what he heard but spoke what God himself SAW INSIDE THE GIANT’S HEART! David took his sling RUNNING TOWARD THE DANGER, and with a well-trained aim threw a stone FROM 7 SMOOTH STONES HE HAD PICKED UP “out of the brook,” WHICH REPRESENTS THE RIVER OF LIFE flowing over and anointing God’s weapon of choice, which struck the giant’s forehead WITH THE FORCE OF HOLY SPIRITUAL POWER, so that he fell to ground. David then ran and slew him, and cut off his head with his own sword (1 Sam. 17). The result was a great victory to the Israelites, who pursued the Philistines to the gates of Gath and Ekron. This is a super-spiritual revelation of how to overcome anything in life…RUN don’t walk away from you troubles, chase them down and Speak to the problem NOT what you see or feel with the flesh but what the “Word of God” says this problem is: “Solved!” The whole point of this telling of the history of Israel is to instill “Real God Faith” within our lives to live as Jesus lived. True biblical Faith is not a “Passive, Don’t bother me and I won’t bother you, keep it to yourself, once a week if you show up to church thing.” Real faith breaks the yokes of “sin and death” and destroys anything or ANYONE that gets in Gods way, our problem is that we have given real faith up and taken the less powerful “Politically Correct Crap faith” the world has ALLOWED US TO USE! It is time in these last days that God’s true people stand up and RE-Claim their biblical birthright of power within completely separate from all fleshly contaminates. We can never be guilty of what God said in the Old Covenant of His people…in Deu 32:20And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. What is Faith? How does Faith work? To find out I will continue in lesson #2 by teaching about faith that God can use to build in us “Giant Killing” abilities…………………………….
